The constraints of limited space necessitate ingenious design solutions, and the tiny house we’re about to explore is a testament to this.

The owner, Cam, a tattoo artist, was inspired to build his own tiny home during the first lockdown.

He wanted to secure his future, free from the shackles of mortgages and financial dependencies.

The idea of owning a house outright appealed to him, and thus, he began his journey into the world of tiny homes.

Cam’s tiny house is a marvel of small space design.

He was fortunate to find a perfect parking spot on his sister’s land, allowing him to build his house outright from the sale of his previous home.

The house is a striking blend of blue and charred cedar, a Japanese method of waterproofing wood.

The house’s size is 6 meters long by 2.3 meters wide and about 4.4 meters tall from the wheels to the roof’s pitch.

The design is further enhanced by an outdoor area, effectively doubling the living space during summer.

The interior of the house is a vibrant mix of colors, artwork, and plants. A feature wall adds height to the house, and a hammock provides a second area to relax.

The house is filled with natural light, thanks to full-height windows, and a skylight that allows for stargazing.

The house also includes a unique feature – a dedicated space for Cam’s dog, complete with a dog door.

The kitchen, though compact, is fully equipped.

It has more bench space than Cam’s previous flats, making it easy for him to prepare his meals.

The fridge is cleverly hidden behind a cupboard, maintaining the kitchen’s sleek look.

The sink is small and round, chosen for aesthetic reasons and to match the round artwork in the house.

The bathroom is surprisingly large for a six-meter tiny house.

It includes a full washing machine, a decent-sized shower, and a full-size vanity.

The bathroom also features a unique herringbone lining, a lightweight plastic that gives the impression of tiles.

An incinerating toilet was chosen as the best option for the house.

The sleeping loft is accessible via the couch and provides a breathtaking view of the surroundings.

The loft includes a bedside table with two shelves and two openable compartments at the foot of the bed for additional storage.

A folding table serves as a workspace for Cam to paint and draw, enhancing the loft’s functionality.

The house reflects Cam’s personality and his love for art.

Every detail, from the choice of colors to the placement of plants, has been carefully considered to create a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing space.

The house also includes a unique feature – an artwork painted on the back of the bathroom door by one of Cam’s fellow tattoo artists.

The house was delivered in July 2021, and Cam has been living in it for almost two years.

He finds tiny house living amazing and enjoys the comfort and motivation the space provides.

The house, designed specifically for him, helps him maintain his creative flow, crucial for his work as a tattoo artist.

The future looks promising for Cam.

He dreams of buying his own land one day and moving his tiny house there.

Currently, he is focusing on his career and has recently opened his own private custom tattoo studio in Wellington Central.

The security of owning his house has given him the confidence to take risks and venture into business.

This house is a testament to the potential of tiny homes – small in size, but brilliant in design, functionality, and the freedom they offer.
