We’ve lived our lives using the products around us. Our parents and older brothers and sisters taught us how to use them the way they were taught how to use it.
But what if what they actually taught us was wrong? *gasp*
Yes! All these things we use today, we’ve been using them all wrong!

1. Those handy tabs
Don’t you just hate it when you’re trying to get some foil or saran wrap from the box and it keeps falling out? Wish the makers would do something about it? They actually did. On the sides, they provided flaps that you press to lock the foil or wrap to the box.
2. Straw holders
Sometimes, you need to drink soda from a can with a straw. But it’s so annoying because the straw keeps popping up and you can’t keep it down. The solution? See those soda tabs? Just stick the straw in the hole and you’re set!
3. Tic Tac dispenser
Tired of always getting more than one Tic Tac whenever you shake it out when all you need is one? Try this trick. Make sure the dispenser is upside down. Shake it once. Carefully open the lid and one Tic Tac will be safely laid on the lid.
4. The genius of a Chinese take-out box
Isn’t it annoying when you have to transfer your Chinese take-out to a plate so everybody can get the food easily? And isn’t it even more annoying that you only found out the take-out box folds out to a plate?
5. The holes have a purpose
Do you know the holes on the handles of your pots and pans? They’re not just used for placing on hooks for easy storage. You can place your ladles in or through the hole so you don’t end up making a mess on your stove or counter.
6. Upside down jars
Tired spilling oil or not being able to completely mix your natural nut butters and its oil? Store it upside down. The nut butter will fall and mix with the oil naturally. When you open the jar, it’ll be ready to go.
7. Tied cords
Tired of unplugging cords when you accidentally step on them? Try this hack. Loop them around each other so they don’t untangle by accident.
8. Floss with blood still on your fingers
With this technique, you no longer have to cut the blood supply to your fingers. Tie the floss into a circle and get it done. You’ll also be using less floss with this technique!
9. More ketchup please!
Don’t you wish you could fit more ketchup in those small containers? So you end up getting more containers but then end up getting more ketchup than you actually need. Someone discovered this hack and it’s been a game changer since. See those folds in the container? They’re not glued and you can open them up and bam! You’ve got a bigger container and can get 50% more ketchup!
10. Pea-sized toothpaste
No, you don’t need to add that much toothpaste on your toothbrush, like what toothpaste commercials show you. That’s just marketing to make you buy more toothpaste. You only a pea-sized amount to keep your pearly whites clean!
11. Built-in handle
Parents always end up holding juice box for kids because they always end up squeezing the entire content with their hands. Simple solution. Fold out the edges of the lid, which the child can hold while they drink the juice. No more spills!
12. Snap off one bar
When people eat Toblerone, they always tear it off away from the chocolate. With this method, they end up breaking off two bars. If you just want one, tear it towards the chocolate. Presto. You get one bar!
13. Instant coaster
It’s so annoying when you place your soda on the table and it forms a pool of liquid at the bottom. How to avoid that? Use the lid as a coaster. Genius!
14. How to tear open sugar packets
Most of us open sugar packets at the end and shake it off to get every single piece of sugar. But do you know what method actually gets every single piece of sugar? Break it in half.
15. Once you pop
You don’t want to stop because it’s hard to get it out of the can. There’s a solution! Use a A4-sized paper, fold it in half and insert it in the Pringles box. Use the paper to slide the chips out of the box and into your hands.
16. Peeling potatoes
Peeling potatoes can be such a hassle before and after cooking potatoes. But this method makes it so easy! Before you boil the potatoes, run your knife around the potato, creating a line in the middle. When it’s done boiling, just slip off the skin in a second.
17. Creamer hack
When you just want to add creamer to your coffee and it spills everywhere. Just do this. Cut out a small triangular piece and that’ll control the flow of the creamer and avoid spills.
18. When you’re on the go
When you’re on the go and you can’t open your coffee and add sugar and milk at the same time. Just use the small opening. The sugar and milk will fit and the stirrer will fit, too. Problem solved!
19. Pour the juice out
You’d think having the spout closer to the glass will make it easier for the juice to come out. Turn it around so the spout is on top and pour the juice. No spills.
20. Two-toned eraser
Ever notice how some erasers have two colors with different textures? Well, one side is for erasing pencil marks and the other one is for erasing ink. Just make sure the ink used is erasable and not the permanent kind.
21. Using bobby pins
We always use bobby pins with the wavy side on top. Well, it turns out the wavy side should be down. This way helps the bobby pin stay in place.
22. More uses for the wooden spoon
Are you tired of boiling water on the stove and the water overflows? Place a wooden spoon on top and it’ll keep the bubble from boiling out.
23. The perfect egg circles
Want to make the perfect egg circles, like the ones you get in restaurants? You can use an egg mold or use an onion ring and cook the egg inside it. Once done, you can either remove the onion or keep it.
24. How to measure pasta noodles
Do you know how pasta noodles have a hold in the middle? They’re not just decoration. They’re used to measure the right amount of serving for pasta noodles.
25. Mango peels
Peeling mangoes can be tricky and very messy. All you need is a glass and it automatically makes it easy with no mess!
26. A second life
Have your razor blade gone dull? Give it a second life by running it down your jeans to sharpen it. Remember to push it away from you so you don’t end up cutting your jeans.
27. The two plungers
All plungers are created equally right? They’re not actually. The one with the wide mouth is for sinks. And the other one with the cone is used for toilets.
28. How to blend properly
A lot of people invest in blenders but end up chucking them because they don’t use it properly. Always add the liquid first then add everything else. The liquid will help push down the solid for even blending.
29. How to change the toilet paper
Women all over the world will rejoice. The proper way to change the toilet paper is to have the loose end flap over the top. This decreases germ exposure because it prevents dirty hands from touching more toilet paper. Plus it also prevents the toilet paper from accidentally touching the wall.
30. How to peel a banana
Most people peel a banana from the stem but the banana always end up getting smushed. We need to learn from the bananas and peel from the top. This way you get every last inch of that banana.
