We have the BBQ Pit Boys to thank for this recipe, which they easily demonstrate in the video below. And the key ingredient for a whiskey pumpkin pie, of course, is Fireball Cinnamon Whisky.

Fireball Cinnamon Whisky is currently one of the top-selling whiskey brands in the U.S. Produced by the Sazerac Company, the brand mixes whiskey, cinnamon flavoring, and sweeteners.

“If you haven’t tried it yet, just imagine what it feels like to stand face-to-face with a fire-breathing dragon who just ate a whiskey barrel full of spicy cinnamon,” according to fireballwhisky.com.

Of course, the tiny amount of whiskey used in this recipe won’t have the same effect as described above, but it gives you a great idea of what to expect … a little taste of toasty.

While the BBQ Pit Boys recipe is baked on a grill, you can bake it in the oven as well. Here’s what you’ll need before you get started:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups of sugar
  • 2 frozen pie crusts — or you can make your own if you prefer
  • 1-1/2 cans (18 oz.) of evaporated milk
  • 1 can (30 oz.) of Pure Pumpkin

Now that you’ve assembled all of the ingredients, it’s time to start baking either on the grill or in the oven.

Step 1: Start by preheating the oven or grill to the adequate temperature to bake the pie crusts.

Step 2: Next, bake or grill the pie crusts as described on the pie crust package or according to your personal recipe.

Step 3: After baking is complete, remove the crusts and allow them to cool. While the crusts are cooling, set your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 4: It’s now time to make the pie mixture. First, crack the eggs into an adequately sized bowl. Then whisk and thoroughly mix in the Pure Pumpkin, condensed milk, salt, sugar, ginger, cloves, and whiskey.

Step 5: Now, separate the mixture evenly between the two pie crusts.

Step 6: When step 5 is complete, cover the pies and set them on the grill or put them in the oven for about 25–30 minutes. Then take the pie covers off and continue cooking for another 25–30 minutes.

Step 7: To see if the pies are ready, insert a toothpick into the pie’s center, and if it comes out clean, the pies are done cooking.

During the holidays, it’s important to keep certain ingredients on hand if you like to bake. Here’s a list of some top “holiday staples” you definitely need.

  1. Butter: You’ll need butter for almost every recipe.
  2. Vanilla extract: This is a requirement for most sweet recipes, including cookies, cakes, and frosting.
  3. Pastry and cake flour: For cakes, cookies, and more.
  4. Baking chocolate: This baking essential is a must for many dessert recipes.
  5. Spices: Keep enough spices on hand for holiday baking, including nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger.
  6. Molasses: This is one of my grandma’s favorite ingredients. You’ll need it to make gingerbread cookies.
