Do you ever wish that you could have your own lush vegetable garden only to remember you live in the city or you have no garden to plant in?

Living in the city or limited spaces doesn’t have to be a hindrance, though, because you can start your own garden even if you’re in the city.

You just need seeds and bottles.

Plastic bottles, to be more specific.

Here’s everything we need to start:

  • 24 1-Liter soda bottles, label removed
  • Soldering iron
  • Scissors or box cutter
  • Old Styrofoam box or seedline tray
  • Soil
  • Celery seeds

The first thing that you need to do is to prepare the soil bed.

Celery needs rich soil that is high in organic matter. So, remember that before planting, amend the soil with compost or well-rotted manure.

Place enough soil on an old styrofoam box and scatter the seeds. Then, add another layer of soil and water the bed.

Wait for the seeds to pop.

Once the seedlings have grown to about 2 inches tall and have 4-5 leaves, they are ready to be transplanted into the garden.

Take all 24 soda bottles and slice them in half.

Leave the caps on.

Turn the top half of each bottle upside down and stack it into its bottom half, as if you were stacking two cups together.

Once they are all done, poke holes in the bottle cap and on the sides of the top half of the bottles with your soldering iron. Do this on all bottles.

Fill each bottle pot with soil and it’s time to transplant the seedlings. Press a hole and transfer the seedling. Do this to all the bottle tops.

Water them and wait 25 days.

After 25 days, you’ll already see progress. Don’t forget to add organic fertilizers and additional soil if needed.

Eggshells are one of the easiest organic fertilizers to get and your celery will love them.

Wait some more.

Wait for a few more days, preferably 60 – 100 days, and they are ready.

Celery is usually ready to harvest 90-120 days after planting when the stalks are about 8-10 inches tall and 1-2 inches in diameter.

Enjoy the lush garden of celery and when you want to harvest some, just cut the stalks at the base of the plant, and enjoy.

Celery is a low-calorie vegetable that is high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It’s a good source of vitamin K, which is important for blood clotting.

Eating celery may also help lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and improve digestion.

Aside from that, you are sure that you’re eating fresh and organic vegetables since you’re the one who planted them.
