Do find yourself stinking by the afternoon even though you put on deodorant in the morning? Well, instead of moving onto the prescription stuff, try some of these natural remedies first.
Turnip Juice
Rub your underarms with some turnip juice to suppress excessive sweat production that causes underarm odor.
Wheat Grass of Chlorophyll Supplements
You can try taking wheatgrass, magnesium, zinc, B-complex, diluted rosemary, or chlorophyll supplements to reduce armpit odor.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Dip a washcloth in apple cider vinegar and rub it over your armpits. It will act as a natural underarm deodorant and prevent the growth of stinky bacteria. It will also help to restore the pH of your armpits and will tighten the pores to reduce the amount of sweat that you secrete.
Parsley
Parsley has cooling properties and works as a deodorizer. Simmer some parsley in water for a few minutes and mix this in with your bath water before you soak in it. You can also soak a cotton ball in your concoction and rub it under your armpits to stop excessive sweating and reduce under arm odor.
Rosemary
Rosemary prevents the growth of odor-causing bacteria and has menthol and chlorophyll which neutralizes body odor. It will also give you a boost of zinc which can lead to a deficiency that causes body odor.
Sage
Crush or chop up two tablespoons of fresh sage and mix with a quarter cup of apple cider vinger. Let this mixture sit for about a week. Strain your mixture and apply to your underarms. It will help reduce underarm sweating and its antimicrobial properties will stop the growth of the microorganisms that cause odor.
Radish Juice
Mix some radish juice with glycerin and rub it on your armpits to neutralize armpit odor.
Tomatoes
Crush about eight tomatoes and place them in a sieve to extract the juice. Add this juice to a bucket of water and bathe in it once a day. The antiseptic properties in tomatoes will stop odor-causing bacteria, shrink pores and reduce perspiration.
Baking Soda
Rub some baking soda on your armpits as is or mix with a little bit of coconut oil which has antibacterial properties. You can also make natural deodorant by mixing three tablespoons of baking soda, three tablespoons of coconut oil and 1 1/2 tablespoons of arrowroot starch. You can add 40 drops of grapefruit extract if you like. Place it in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes and apply a small amount under your arms.
Lemon
The acidity of lemon juice will reduce the pH level in your skin so your skin won’t produce odor-causing bacteria. Cut a lemon in half and rub it under your arms so that the juice gets on your skin. Let it dry before you take a shower. You can do this once a day until the odor is gone.
Witch Hazel
Odor-causing bacteria can’t survive if the skin has a low pH. Witch hazel will reduce your skin’s pH, shrink skin pores and reduce sweat production when applied to your armpits.
Tea Tree Oil
Add two drops of tea tree oil to two tablespoons of water. Pour into a spray bottle and spritz under your arms.
