Before you spend hundreds at the body shop, you may be able to take out some of your car dents on your own. Here are seven hacks to help your car look like new.
Use a Plunger
Pour some water over your dent and on the plunger and start plunging your dent. Make sure you’re using a cup plunger and not a flange one, which is used for toilets.
Dry Ice Method
While wearing gloves, place some dry ice on the dent of the car for a few seconds and repeat until the dent removes itself. Get details here.
Repair Hail Dents With Sunshine
Did your car get banged up after a hailstorm? Leave it out in the sunshine. The heat from the sun will pop the dents out.
Hot Water Kettle Method
Take a kettle full of hot water (if you have a large dent, you might need two) and pour some slowly over the dent. Let the plastic absorb the heat. Then gently push around the edges of the dented section. The dent should pop out and the plastic should return to its normal shape. Click here for a YouTube tutorial.
Use a Hair Dryer & Compressed Air
Heat up your car dent with a hair dryer to expand the plastic. Once it’s at its highest temperature, start spraying the dent with the compressed air can while the can is turned upside down. The cold air will cause the plastic dent to pop out.
Vacuum Cleaner Bucket Method
Make a hole at the bottom of a pot and tape the pot around the dent. Place your vacuum cleaner hose over the hole to suck the dent out of your car. This works best on shallow dents.
Hot Glue Method
Put some screws into each side of a wooden dowel as a handle. Put hot glue on the end of the dowels and place the dowels around the dent. Let the glue cool and then pull out the dowels. Repeat the process until the dent is gone.
