But it will take some patience, commitment, and time to get the car seat looking in its prime again, so come prepared.

A simple solution

They use a homemade cleaning solution that’s incredibly simple, yet it works on some of the toughest stains.

They sprayed it on top of the car seat before starting the cleaning process.

The equipment

To continue with the rest of the cleaning, you’ll need a power vacuum with a nozzle that has a small but wide opening.

You’re also going to need a carpet extractor. This equipment will really suck out the dirt. You’ll also need lots of water.

This particular seat hasn’t been cleaned in years and there’s an obvious tar stain plus dried-up glue stains with thick dirt on it.

In the end, they’ll be able to remove it and brighten the car seat, too.

Let’s get started.

Spray the special cleaning solution on top of the car seat. Spray every bit of it.

Now, it’s time for the vacuum and water. Use the nozzle with the wider opening. Turn on the vacuum and hose down the car seat.

Use a water spray bottle to spritz water on the car seat while you vacuum.

You’ll actually see a difference almost immediately. Continue vacuuming and spraying every single inch of that car seat.

It doesn’t just work on car seats.

This cleaning solution and technique also work on carpets. It’ll take more muscle and time but if it’s going to work, then that’s a good thing, right?

Once you’ve removed all the visible dirt on the car seat with the vacuum, you’ll next use the carpet extractor.

Use it on the car seat and you’ll notice it sucks out the water and soap from the inside.

Spend more time running the extractor and you’ll see how much it’s already changed from its previous dirty state.

Spray the seat again. Generously.

Leave it to set for about 20 minutes.

When the 20 minutes are up, repeat the cleaning process again. Use the vacuum to clean the seat while spraying it with water simultaneously.

When it’s completely clean, use the extractor again to remove the soaked-up solution.

Use the extractor until there is no more trace of the cleaning solution. If you can’t do the cleaning on a warm day, place a powerful fan in front of it to let it dry.

How do you make the spray?

It’s a mixture of 1 part Dawn platinum liquid soap, 1 part ethyl alcohol, and 2 parts hot water.
