The last thing you want after taking a nice clean shower is to wrap yourself in a stinky towel.
Towels are so good at sucking up moisture that they can end up with a musty mildew smell. Especially if you end up leaving them in the washing machine too long or forget about that towel in your gym bag.
Sometimes the washing machine is just no match for this strong scent. Sometimes you need to bring in the reinforcements. Here’s how you can salvage your stinky towels and get rid of that horrendous mildew stench.
First, fill your washing machine with the hottest water possible. Add one to two cups of white vinegar. DO NOT add detergent or anything else! Run the load.
Next, run the load again with very hot water but don’t put in any vinegar. Remember, NO detergent!
When it’s done, toss your laundry into the dryer and put it on the hottest setting possible. Feel free to add in some dryer sheets to boost that clean laundry scent. As soon as the dryer stops, make sure your towels are completely dry. If not, run them through the dryer again.
If they still have a hint of mildew you can repeat the process.
This time around, add one cup of baking soda after you pour in the vinegar. This should completely eliminate any unpleasant scent and make your towels so super fresh that you’ll want to snuggle them.
