An A-frame log cabin in the woods is typically rustic, rough, and reflecting of the nature around it. However, this isn’t your ‘typical’ A-frame cabin. In fact, it’s far from it.
Originally built in 1969, this Lake Tahoe 1,200-square-foot home has two bedrooms, one and a half baths, and an expansive front deck. Popp Littrell Architecture + Interiors revamped the cabin and completely renovated the interior’s design. It’s unlike anything you’d ever expect. Let’s take a look inside.
Inside the home, it’s the perfect blend between retro, vintage, and modern.
The cabin has a large, open floor plan with spacious seating area. The living room has a long sofa and coffee table, along with a few chairs as well. The perfect place to chat with friends and family near the large windows that let in an abundance of natural light.
An open staircase sits in the middle of the great room, mimicking the cabin’s A-frame structure.
A small dining area sits next to the glossy brick fireplace.
The fireplace certainly commands your attention when you walk into the room, but the vintage meets modern furniture and light fixtures in the dining area are quite attention-grabbing as well. Dark beams are a beautiful contrast to the lighter wood of the A-frame.
The living and dining rooms flow nicely into the kitchen with breakfast bar.
The patterned carpet changes into a beautiful tile floor in this fully updated kitchen. Black cabinets (which hide the fridge and dishwasher) match the dark beams giving the kitchen a very sleek and modern touch. Prep and cook meals with ample counter space and the European-style appliances.
The gorgeous modern design continues into the luxurious bathroom with dark slate floors.
The bathroom boasts a deep tub with shower surrounded by the matching stonework from the floors. Black cabinets not only provide storage, but they also hide the cabin’s laundry facilities. These clever designs keep the home feel clean, uncluttered, and sleek.
The master bedroom is located on the second floor and features a large window and cathedral ceilings.
This beautiful, cozy room has a platform bed and two small end tables. The wood walls give the room a rustic, cabin feel, while the crisp, simple linens and a modern touch. With architecture this beautiful, there’s no need to distract from it.
The second bedroom is perfect for kids or extra guests.
Much like the master bedroom, the guest bedroom takes a minimalistic approach to its decor and design. The patterned bedding with the pop of red look absolutely gorgeous next to the cabin’s rough and raw wood grains.
This cabin is refreshingly unexpected with a unique take on the “A-frame” style. View more pictures at Popp Littrell Architecture + Interiors.
