We all spend more than enough money at Christmas time between traveling, buying presents and preparing festive meals and desserts.
So you won’t want to spend more than you have to on your kids’ favorite toys .
Keep the following tips in mind before you spend a single dollar:
Implement the 3 Gift Rule
Set a limit for the number of gifts your children will receive and tell them they can choose from 3 gifts. You can up this to 5 or whatever you think is appropriate for your family and your budget. Instead of just shouting out random things, they’ll think about exactly what they want and need since they know they have a limit.
Don’t Use Credit
Use layaway to help you stick to your budget instead of using a credit card. Try to pay for everything in cash so you are more aware of what you are spending and don’t go over budget.
Shop At Stores That Are Closing
See if you can cross anything off your list by shopping at a store that is closing. In most cases, they will have great sales to get rid of stock.
Shopped Used on Some Items
You can save big by buying used on certain items like bicycles and playsets. Check out places like Goodwill, GameStop, or even Craiglist if you can buy used.
Take Advantage of Holiday Sales
Figure out what stores you’ll have to shop in and find out what types of Black Friday, Cyber Monday and any other holiday sales they will be having.
Here are some of the classic toys and brands you’re kids will be asking and where you can save some money on them:
Board Games
Keep family board game night alive by stocking up for $4.88 each at Walmart on Black Friday.
Power Wheels
You can also save big at Walmart on a Big Wheels on Black Friday for just $99.
