Okay, so I say it once, I say it again and again: the ‘new-wave’ of innovative rental designs is returning the tourism industry back to its roots of simplicity, while maintaining the luxury we have learned to love. It is now flooded with restored fire houses, renovated grandma flats, tree houses, docked house boats, garage studios, and even just garages.
So in walks Patrick Schmidt… remember this name – you do not want to forget it!
Mr Schmidt is like many creative holiday makers. He wants to find commonsensical ways to travel the world without breaking the bank. So, he quit his job, purchased an old school bus (aka a ‘skoolie’), and named it Blue Bus. And this is where the story begins.
On testing his new purchase, Mr Schmidt drove Blue Bus across the country to visit his parents. With the open space of his parent’s house, Mr Schmidt started his restoration. Up first: the roof.
Then: the interior
And, then: the insulation
By now, Mr Schmidt’s father had taken an interest. Keen to be apart of this innovative transformation, he decided to help. So, together, they installed a bed, kitchen and dining area, bathroom facilities and air conditioner. Oh, and solar panels!
With a conscious awareness for environmental sustainability, the new-found Schmidt team reused and recycled their resources at every turn.
Day after day, it started to transform
And with the interior design set, Mr Schmidt was able to adding his favorite items, such as his books!
After five months, Big Blue had been transported into a clean, mean, transporting machine. It was ready to transport Mr Schmidt across the a 10,000 mile trip!
