The act of transforming an old (school) bus into a comfy travel companion is not new – DIY builders and subsequent buyers have continued to reconsider the benefits of a more cost-effective lifestyle for many years.
Even with the obvious advantages illustrated by current users, Jeremy and Mira Thompson have taken the ideas a few step further. They have combined the functionality of a school bus with the impressive design elements of tiny houses. The result? A 37-foot economically conscious abode that is rich in rustic style.
To awe at the outside is to notice its difference to other transformed buses – The Thompsons have placed a lot of emphasis on design. The exterior is complete with shingles, window boxes and a porch light.
When stepping inside you will immediately notice the rustic theme. What you will not notice from the naked eye is that the bus was converted using many recycled materials, reducing costs and keeping this abode environmentally friendly!
As per the Thompson’s attempt to recreate a tiny house, this abode includes all of the features you would expect of a traditional home: living areas, a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom.
The kitchen includes all the appliances one needs to cook their favorite meals. The stove and vintage fridge both use propane power.
Wanting to make use of the space, the Thompsons converted one wheel well into a support for the cast-iron stove. The other well was converted into a love seat.
The bedroom is tucked away at the end of the house, enclosed by storage space. Above it, and accessed by the ladder, is the Thompson’s activities area, where Jeremey plays his guitar.
The bathroom area is just as you would expect, complete with a towel rack and decorative features.
The bus made its debut in October. And before you ask, the Thompsons took it on a small trip to show their friends, both otherwise prefer it to stay in one place.
Please SHARE this with your friends and family so they can share in the Thompson’s creativity, too!
