Are you struggling to get your white clothes white? Are they looking yellow, stained, dingy, or just not as white as you would like? You are probably already using the best detergents and even bleach, but are they working? What if there were easier ways to get your clothing whiter? Here are a few things to try the next time you do a load of white clothes.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is something you probably already have in your kitchen cabinet, but maybe you should consider adding it to your laundry room cabinets, as well. Add baking soda to your washing machine with your regular detergent, and it will help scrub out the stains and make your laundry cleaner and whiter.
Aspirin
Dissolve six aspirins in a bowl of water and soak stained laundry in it before washing. The aspirin will help remove the stains and make your whites appear whiter. Do this before each wash, and your clothes will come out looking as good as new.
Vinegar and Lemon
Vinegar and lemon are both strong and can help remove stains from just about anything, including your laundry. Mix a cup of vinegar with a cup of lemon juice in a bowl and soak the clothing for a half hour. Toss it in the washing machine with your regular detergent and watch as it comes out white and stain-free.
Borax
Borax is often mixed with laundry detergent to help get clothes cleaner. It can be mixed with vinegar to form a paste that can be applied directly to the stain. Allow it to set and then toss the clothes in the washing machine and wash them as usual.
Dry Clothes on Low Heat
Your clothes could be getting burned and stained in the dryer. Even if you are able to get the stains out in the wash, if you dry your clothes on heat that is too high and burn them, you could have dark spots, yellow spots, and other burn marks on your whites. Use low heat and protect your clothes.
Dishwasher Detergent
You already use dishwasher detergent on your dishes, and it makes them clean and white; why not use it on your laundry? Simply toss some dishwashing detergent pods in your washing machine with your clothes, and they will help make your whites whiter and remove stains and dirt.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is completely natural, and it can help remove stains from clothing. Simple apply the peroxide to the stain and allow it to soak into it before you toss it into the washing machine. The peroxide should remove the stain in the wash.
Only Use Bleach on Cotton
You might think that you can use bleach on all white clothing, but if you are noticing that some of your whites appear to have yellow stains on them, it could be because the bleach is staining them. Bleach is not safe to use on all types of fabric, and it won’t remove the stains from certain materials. Only use bleach on cotton and look for other ways to whiten other types of fabrics.

If you have white clothing, it’s much more prone to showing stains and harder to clean. If your current stain removing methods aren’t working to get your whites white, consider using one of the methods above instead.
