If safety is a concern of yours, make sure not to follow in the footsteps of these people. They did their best to protect their items and set up security systems, but unfortunately, they came up very short. Their security and safety fails will have you cracking up with laughter while someone easily cracks the code on their locked door.
Here’s a tip from us, if you want to keep a room secure, don’t write the entrance code right above the door handle. It sort of defeats the purpose. However, that’s just one of the hilarious mistakes that the people on this list made. They are listed in no particular order, because the truth is, they are all equally ridiculous.
1. Inefficient System
There has to be a better way to secure the gate than using six different locks. If you unlock just one lock, the gate is able to be opened. Whoever designed the system failed big time.
2. Sleeping On The Job
The security guard put up a life-size photo of an alert security guard with a shotgun in front of him so he could take a nap. We’re sure that no one will notice. It looks very realistic.
3. Anti-Theft Strategy
This guy must really want to make sure no one steals his car. He locked the seat to the steering wheel so no one would be able to drive it. It’s a bit much, but it does work.
4. Creative Safety Gear
It’s a good idea to be safe when working with power tools. However, we’re not sure if this substitutes as suitable vision protection. Wearing a plastic bucket on your head probably does more harm than good.
5. Ineffective Gate
This community just installed a new security gate to make sure no one who is unauthorized enters. Judging by the tracks in the grass though, it doesn’t seem to be working very well. Everyone just drives around.
6. Secure Sandals
The people didn’t want to lose their sandals so they locked them to the bike as well. There’s only one problem — anyone could just lift up the whole bike and walk off. Sure, the wheel won’t turn, but that’s never stopped a criminal before.
7. Pajama Washing Instructions
The tag on the child’s pajamas from China is pretty hilarious. Just to be safe, they made sure to let the parents know to remove the child before washing. Otherwise, there could be a big problem.
8. Rumba Roulette
You never know what the Rumba is going to run into. It seems like a pretty risky game to play. There are a lot of downsides to Rumba roulette and not really any positives that we can think of.
9. Locked Mug
If you are sick and tired of other people using your mug, why not just lock it to the rack? That’s what this person did. We’re not sure if it is ingenious or just plain crazy.
10. Horn Covers
Goat horns can be kind of dangerous. You never know when they are going to ram somebody with them. However, this goat is free to do all of the head butting that he wants.
11. Locked Drawer
“I’ll never forget the time that my mom installed this lock in one of her bathroom drawers when I was a kid,” explains the daughter. The mom used the drawer to lock away the kids’ phones when they were misbehaving, but they found a way to get in.
12. Well-Protected Spoon
It’s a pretty ridiculous amount of security for a spoon. It must be made of gold. Why else would anyone attach a spoon to a long chain like this?
13. Poorly Placed Sign
It’s a great idea to put up a sign to make drivers more aware of cyclists. However, when the sign blocks the entire bike lane, it’s not really helping. Now the cyclists have to swerve into the traffic lane to avoid it.
14. Trust Lock
This lock fail was spotted at the gym. The person must be really trusting. They used a carabiner to close the locker door.
15. Stapler Warning
Sometimes, instilling fear into people is the best way to keep your items safe. That’s what this warning label tries to do. If you steal the man’s stapler, he will track you down and make you pay.
16. Newspaper Shield
We thought the guy wearing a bucket on his head was bad. Then we saw this man. He uses a sheet of newspaper to keep his face shielded while he operates power tools.
17. ATM Fail
You would think that ATMs would be one of the more secure types of machines. However, this one is held together with duct tape. Hopefully, no criminals notice the repair job.
18. Car Lock
There are no doors on this car, so the driver found a new way to keep it secure. He used a chain to hook it up to a tree like you might do with a bicycle. It’s an interesting technique.
19. Carefully Shipped
Thankfully, the people shipping the plunger made sure to pack it in the box very tightly. Although, next time, we would probably suggest using a smaller box. It’s just easier that way.
20. Nice Try
At first glance it looks somewhat secure. However, the reality is that the motorcycle lock can just be lifted off. The person didn’t really think it through all the way.
21. Locked Shifter
If the gears can’t be shifted, the car won’t be able to move. It’s actually smart thinking. No one is going to attempt to steal it now.
22. Excessive Chain Use
We’re not exactly sure what this is supposed to do. They went pretty crazy with the chains. Not only is there one running around the outside doors, but there is also a chain strung through the interior of the vehicle.
23. Trusting Bike Owner
The bicycle owner is overly trusting here. The sign can simply be lifted off of the ground. Let’s hope this was photographed in a low crime area.
24. Mouse Trap Bike Seat
If you try and jump on this bike and ride away, you’ll be in for a rude awakening. Especially if you are a man. Sure, it’s an easy trap to disable, but that doesn’t make it any less intimidating.
25. Using Handcuffs
It turns out, handcuffs are multi-purpose. They can be used to lock up bikes as well. It’s not very traditional, but it works, so why not?
26. Security Goat
The sign says there is an attack dog on the other side of the fence, but that’s not who comes out to greet the people who come near. It’s the curious goat. He looks pretty friendly.
27. Truck Security
This is some high-tech truck security. It’s a chain running between the frame of the truck and a light post. We wonder what would happen if they forgot to undo it before driving.
28. Toilet Paper Supply
One of the worst things that can happen in the bathroom is running out of toilet paper. Luckily, this bathroom is well prepared for the situation. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
29. Lock Illusion
This fake lock drawing probably won’t stop anyone from opening the cabinet, but it sure is funny. Someone in the office has too much time on their hands. The boss had better increase their workload!
30. Hanging High
One way to keep your bike secure is to hang it up so high off of the ground that no one can reach it. The only problem is how they are going to get it down if they ever want to ride it. It seems like a big hassle.
31. No Bears Allowed
It looks like the bear didn’t read the sign. It says no bears permitted in the dumpster. Unfortunately, relying on a bear to read a sign is a pretty bad technique for keeping bears from climbing in.
32. Useful Gate
Normally when there is a gate, it is a attached to a fence. However, not this gate. It is a standalone one.
33. Thief-Proof Case
It must be a really bad neighborhood. The person covered their entire car in a metal case. Not even the windows can be accessed.
34. Team Effort
In order to install the air conditioner, two men stood on the one ladder to hold it in place while the other man went out over the ledge on the end of it with the unit. It’s one of the most dangerous things that we’ve ever seen.
35. Visible Door Code
What is the point of having a door with a coded entrance if you are just going to put the code on a sign in the window? It doesn’t make much sense, but really, most of these security fails don’t make much sense…
36. Scissor Retention Plan
“I have identified a flaw in my college’s scissor retention plan,” writes the man. The fact that someone would try to secure scissors with a string is pretty laughable. It’s not like scissors cut string or anything like that…
37. Gate Deadbolt
It’s important to lock the front gate when leaving the house. Although, this lock isn’t going to do much good. Someone could just reach right through the bars and undo it.
38. Wooden Electric Fence
Just because the sign says the fence is electric doesn’t mean it actually is. It’s pretty funny. It’s unlikely that it’s going to deter many criminals.
39. Duct Tape Protection
We’re willing to bet no one will try to steal this bike. However, it’s not a very convenient way to lock it up if you are planning on using it regularly. It is creative though.
40. Smart Phone Road Sign
“A road sign warns drivers that they may encounter pedestrians who are deeply absorbed in their smartphones, in Stockholm, Sweden,” explains the man. Texting while walking can be just as dangerous as texting while driving.
41. Extra Safe
This seems like an interesting way to lock the door. The car has a chain with a padlock threaded between the front door window and the back door. Using the standard locking mechanism of the car is just not secure enough.
42. Roommate Deterrent
If you are tired of your roommate eating all of your food, why not just wrap a chain around the fridge? Yes, it’s a little bit overprotective, but the food thief will get the message loud and clear.
43. Homemade Zombie Smasher
It’s good to be prepared for anything. Even zombie apocalypses. There is no such thing as being too safe when it comes to zombies.
44. Entrance Denied
They got the red X on the gate so they weren’t allowed to enter. They’ll have to find a different way to get in now. We wonder what they will do…
45. Guard Dogs
Using an ATM at night isn’t recommended. However, no one is going to mess with this woman. She’s got two vicious dogs at her side to protect her.
46. Secure Toilet Paper
It would be pretty hard to steal the toilet paper from this public bathroom. It is secured inside a metal case with a big lock. One or two small sheets of paper per person are all you are allowed.
47. Sketchy Entrance
One way to keep people from entering a door is to install it off of the ground in the middle of a wall. Although, it also makes it hard to exit the building through it. If you aren’t careful, you could end up falling multiple stories.
48. Wooden Anti-Theft Device
There is nothing more secure than locking a giant wooden beam to the steering wheel. It’s both ridiculous and effective. Although, there has got to be an easier way to prevent vehicle theft.
49. Polaroid Security Cam
“Stop littering, you’re on my camera,” the sign reads. It points to an old Polaroid camera attached to the roof. There are definitely a few issues with the setup.
50. Secure Garage
Whoever decided to build the garage on the second story of the house is an absolute genius. You would need a flying car to access it. Unfortunately, we still have several years at a minimum until those are developed.
