Start with clean dry hair and add some volumizing powder to your roots if you want to give it some more height.

Gather all your hair into a low ponytail at the base of your neck, you can have this slick and tight or soft and gentle depending on what style you are wanting to go with.

If you want to add in some extra volume to your style, gently pull the hair up off the crown of your head. Feel free to also pull out a few strands to frame your face.

Time for the twisting!

While holding your ponytail with your right hand, stick out your pointer and middle fingers on your left hand and wrap your hair, starting at the base of your neck, around these two fingers.

Wrap the hair up and over to the right and then twist your left hand, still holding the hair, to the left. Do a full 360 turn with your left hand and bring the loop of hair to the back of the top of your head.

Make sure you have held onto the ends of your hair with your right hand so there is still a tiny bit sticking out from the bottom of the twist.

You can now let go with your right hand and, while your left is holding the top of the twist firmly in place, gently pull the hair on the left side of the twist up to the top.

You are effectively wrapping the whole twist up with hair on the left side of your head, this will help hold the style in place.

Once you have completed the wrapping you can now begin to tuck in any loose strands and any of the ends that might still be sticking out the bottom.

Now is the time to secure the whole style in place and make sure it stays looking elegant all day long.

Hold the entire style in place with you left hand as you begin to insert pins along the right side.

Alex recommends using actual French Twist pins as they are meant just for this, but bobby pins work too.

To ensure the pins stay in place all day and hold your hair up where it is supposed to be, try this simple technique for putting them in.

Starting at the bottom you want to place the pin angled towards the right so that the spokes gently touch your scalp, then angle it to the left as you push it in all the way.

You will want to add enough pins that you feel like the hair is secure and is not moving around, Alex used 5 or 6 on herself.

Once the pins are in place and everything feels secure, give it a spritz of hairspray and you’re done!

Simple, easy, elegant, beautiful, and all in under 60 seconds.
