Some say bigger is better.
Well, they’re straight-up wrong. Small is special. Tiny is terrific.
Tiny homes are all the hype these days. Home is where the heart is, after all, even if it’s tiny.
This is the story of a single mom and her ten-year-old daughter’s transition from the city to a tiny home.
Meet Erin and her daughter Paulina.
Welcome to the Tiny House Block in Southern California. We’re in Mount Laguna, East San Diego, to be exact.
The Tiny House Block is a wonderful little village haven for… well, anybody! And it happens to be Erin and Paulina’s new home.
Hikers and vacationers frequent the village, but it’s also home to creatives and whole families!
Here’s Erin and Paulina’s blue tiny home at a distance.
Isn’t it so precious?
Erin graciously invites us in for a little tour of her little house.
Make yourself right at home.
Despite its seemingly small size, there’s more than enough room for everyone. The tiny home uses every inch of space perfectly.
First things first: the kitchen. This might just be the most adorable kitchen we’ve ever seen.
It’s not large nor elaborate. But this kitchen packs a giant punch in a tight space.
Erin admits she doesn’t have a microwave nor a stove. Yet she doesn’t need one. Her air fryer is an absolute workhorse.
Erin and Paulina have turned this space into the perfect cooking spot.
In fact, they cook every night!
Next, we have the bathroom.
This one’s a little boring. It’s just a typical bathroom.
Seriously, the bathroom’s as normal as it gets! You could find this in any old home.
It’s probably the most normal space in the entire house, featuring a typical toilet, shower, and bathtub.
If you’re not impressed yet, let’s head out to the balcony. The tour continues outdoors.
This might be the greatest “room” of the whole house!
Check out that telescope. I imagine the stars at night are stellar.
We can’t get over this beautiful balcony. And neither can they! They love it out here.
Now for perhaps the most interesting room within the house. Let’s take a quick trip upstairs to the “big loft,” also know as Paulina’s room.
She gives us a detailed tour, providing a rundown of her collectibles and hobbies in the process.
Turns out, Paulina even has a pet snake named Middles! And she’s a huge Pokemon fan.
Seriously, who doesn’t like Pikachu?
Her mom lets her have the big loft. Erin’s fine with a smaller room.
Besides the unique living arrangement, their life isn’t all that different than most.
Each and every day they head to the city. Erin works from nine to five, and Paulina gets ready to go to school at six every weekday morning.
Erin rents the tiny property, but there are tons of others in the neighborhood!
Life really is picture-perfect in this terrific tiny house.
Their tiny home is featured in Tiny House Giant Journey’s Tiny Tours series.
The Tiny House Giant Journey blog, a creation of tiny homeowner Jenna the “Tiny House Girl,” is dedicated to showcasing alternate lifestyles and tiny houses around the world.
Jenna’s promotion has garnered Erin and Paulina quite a bit of popularity on YouTube. As it stands, their tiny home tour video already has over four million views!
Erin’s smile says it all. Life’s not too shabby in this tiny house, even in her room, the “small loft.”
Some of life’s greatest gifts come in small packages.
So why did they move into a tiny home?
Erin wanted an affordable life in a good community. And they both absolutely love nature. It’s the perfect situation for them. Paulina puts it into simple terms:
“I just like how much nature there is out here and how much time there is to spend outside and stuff.”
Plus, the locals are the absolute best.
The sense of community really makes the village. Community potlucks and bonfires are common.
Small is sweet. Erin and Paulina are living their best lives.
Paulina says her school friends are jealous. Are you? Would you ever live in a tiny house?
What do you think of Erin and Paulina’s lifestyle? They seem extremely happy, and we’re so happy for them!
Before you go, be sure to watch their entire tiny home tour in the video below.
Sometimes, life gets bigger and better when you think smaller!
