The world is changing and so are people’s values.

More people are looking to live a life that doesn’t keep them in debt or tether them to jobs they don’t love.

And more people are looking to live sustainable lifestyles that allow them to live in harmony with nature. They also don’t mind having less space. What’s the point of having a big house if you hardly use any of the space inside?

That’s why tiny home living is becoming so popular.

It affords people more financial and personal freedom in an environmentally friendly home.

And shipping containers make the perfect tiny home. They are recycled, tiny enough to be moved into certain spaces without requiring permits, don’t require much land, can be moved, and are easily powered by sustainable energy.

Mike Reid and his partner Dave Livingstone started Dwell Containers Canada to build eco-friendly homes for people looking to live off the grid.

“We are an innovative company that is recycling and re-purposing used shipping containers to build sustainable, green, environmentally friendly dwellings. We turn unused metal containers into usable space, saving conventional building materials for a lower carbon footprint,” their website states.

All of their containers are made with Corten corrugated steel exteriors for durability. Two-pound cell spray foam helps to keep the walls, floors, and ceilings well insulated.

These container homes are powered by a 30 amp panel and LED reassessed spotlights that you can plug into a power source.

Dwell Containers Canada currently has several different models of container homes to choose from, including a studio and a home with a lower garage.

“We start by recycling a steel shipping container, saving conventional building materials and natural resources. We adhere to green building principles by strictly controlling waste, reusing materials, incorporating green renewable technologies like solar power, and promoting off-grid living,” Dwell Containers Canada states.

They also offer customization that can use several containers to create a dual level home or a home that is totally off-grid and powered by solar panels.

“We wish to build a lasting sustainable product with the lowest possible carbon footprint,” the company says. “The possibilities and innovative designs are endless.”
