The Miter Box is a simple, sophisticated tiny home created by Shelter Wise. It was the first tiny home the company ever built — and today? It’s still one of their best.
The Miter Box is truly a beautiful work of art. The home is simple, refined, and modern on the outside, and on the inside, the beauty and ingenuity continue. Using reclaimed woods, rubber cork, and different types of metal, Shelter Wise created an eco-friendly home that doesn’t skimp on luxury.
The exterior features polished wood with elegant metal details.
The Miter Box’s entryway is tucked away on one side of the home; this allows for ultimate privacy. When parked facing away from the road, guests have their very own secluded paradise.
Step inside The Miter Box and enter the charming and modest living space. Despite its simplicity, it is certainly not lacking in elegance.
The dark wood provides gorgeous contrast with the stark white ceiling and stainless steel. Since the home is just 150-square-feet, it was important to make clever use of the space — Shelter Wise definitely delivered.
The modern kitchen consists of a large stainless steel countertop, small sink, and a mini-fridge. A portable stove top could be used for cooking and easily stored below.
The Miter Box is deceivingly detailed. Take a look at the home’s handmade light fixtures and push-out window.
Enjoy home-cooked meals in The Miter Box’s dining area surrounded by windows, with plenty of room for four.
However, much like the rest of the home, the dining space isn’t exactly as it seems…
The benches of the dining room table fold out, and the table collapses to create an extra sleeping space.
Even though the home is under 200-square-feet, there is still ample space for entertaining and housing guests.
Of course, as pictured above, the tiny home has a classic sleeping loft.
The vaulted ceilings provide plenty of room in the upstairs sleeping loft, accessed via a handcrafted wooden ladder pictured above. The white ceiling becomes the ‘walls’ of the loft without feeling claustrophobic.
Looking opposite the sleeping loft, you’ll look back toward the entrance of the home where there is an additional storage loft.
The entrance door is to the left, and the small metal pocket door to the right is the entry to The Miter Box’s energy efficient bathroom.
The bathroom is surrounded by metal walls with wood flooring. It’s decorated with a few stone rocks, giving the bathroom a ‘spa-like’ feel.
Wondering about the shower? Well, the entire room is the shower as there has been drainage set up beneath the wood planks.
Bathroom storage is just outside the door for easy access to toiletries, towels, or clothing.
The 150-square-foot home might be simple, but it’s anything but boring. The best part? It’s mobile, so the scenery could change as often or as little as you’d like.
