Everyone was affected the moment COVID 19 was declared a pandemic. Every business, no matter how big or small, had to make difficult decisions to balance its survival as a business and its employees as well.
The following days were a struggle to keep things afloat. Slowly but surely, some businesses were able to get back on their feet. Sadly, others had to close, and we’ve seen many of them as the days unfolded.
Pandemic hits tourism
The tourism industry was one of many that received a massive blow from the pandemic. Borders had to close, and local communities were on a lockdown. Hence, vacation and tourist spots also had to shut down their operations.
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization report, the pandemic resulted in a deep dive in tourism’s export revenues and affected as many as 100 million jobs. That much impact is too challenging to come back; the only way out was to wait until the borders opened again.
Tourism is back
More than two years since COVID, more and more cities and countries are rising from the fall. Many have opened their borders, especially to vaccinated tourists. The time between then and now also gave companies a period to revitalize their tourist attractions.
Brambura Park in Romania was one of those that created something new for people to visit after the borders opened to tourists again. The place used to have a fun playground and park for kids and some cute baby alpacas. But their new offering was made to make park goers have their world turned around.
The Upside Down House
The name of the attraction speaks for itself. The Upside Down House embodied the name right at the exterior. It looked like someone’s home went tumbling down the hills or got blown away to end up looking like this.
You can see how the structure was well-thought – from the roof on the ground to the streetlights hanging like a chandelier. It was indeed an eye-catching attraction. But wait until you get to see the interior!
Yes, as you could expect, everything is upside down. And it’s no ordinary “flipped” interior. The architect challenged themselves also to make it tilt at 70 degrees. So you don’t only see everything inside the house “hanging from the floor,” but it’s also tilted, giving it a more mind-blowing illusion.
“Real fun turns you around!”
This is Brambura’s mantra and inspiration for their new attraction. The park’s name is Romanian for helter-skelter and boy! That’s definitely what you’ll feel when you are inside.
According to owner Leopold Klingeis, people visiting the Upside Down House would see everything “abnormally,” and this idea kept true to their brand as offering something crazy yet fun to their visitors.
Local and foreign tourists alike have lined up to experience what it’s like to be in a house that looked like it was defying gravity. The park wished this crazy idea would bring people back to enjoying parks like Brambura.
