Homes come in all shapes and sizes.
Some prefer massive homes with sprawling land, while others find comfort in the quaint and cozy style homes.
No matter what your preference is, your home should be a place where you feel comfortable and safe. As we are all aware, the price of homes is higher than ever.
For those who are looking to own their home without drowning in a nearly unpayable mortgage, there are a few options.
However, you may have to get creative with your home in order to save some cash.
For one young couple living in Australia, their solution to saving some money while still owning a home was to convert three twenty-foot shipping containers into a cozy home.
It turned out amazing.
The house has everything that any other house would have even though it looks super unique.
This couple was able to turn ordinary shipping containers into an amazing-looking and extremely functional home.
They attached the shipping containers together in order to make them feel like one continuous space.
Each container has a designated purpose.
The first container is the kitchen container.
It is a full-sized kitchen with a working fridge, stove, oven, sink, and plenty of drawers and cupboards for storage.
Don’t forget the furniture.
They have a small dining table in the container as well.
As you walk through the small hallway that connects the containers, you end up in the living room.
This space has a big couch, a wood-burning stove for those cold nights, and even a small work area where the couple can use their laptops.
Cozy, right?
This container has the bedroom.
The bed is raised up on top of storage drawers where the couple keeps all of their clothes.
They had to get creative with how they were going to use their limited space and they came up with an excellent solution.
It seems as though every single nook and cranny has been utilized in order to get the most of their small space.
Privacy on acreage.
What’s great is that this shipping container home sits on a big property surrounded by trees.
This allows to couple to spend plenty of time outside of their small home.
Outdoor dining?
They built a nice big deck outside of the containers that has a table for eating when the weather is good.
They’ve also built planter boxes in order to grow some of their own food. The electricity in the shipping containers is run off solar panels from the roof.
They built a roof over the top of the container in order to create a shade barrier and mount the panels to the top.
Although they aren’t completely off-grid, the couple hopes to become off-grid in the near future.
This shipping container home is a perfect example of what can be done when you think creatively and have the courage to live a bit alternatively.
