This is UHU, and this house is like your childhood treehouse dream come true – only better!
UHU is an A-shaped (or more like a diamond) house that stands on stilts among the trees around it. The angular exterior stands out from the rest of the forestry around, but the interior is the exact opposite of it.
The interior design is filled with curves to deviate from its shape.
Everything was perfectly curved, from doors to drawer handles, from lighting to bed frames, to incorporate the feeling of having a flow inside the house. It’s a perfect place to have a quiet getaway from all the hustle and bustle.
This house stands 40 feet tall, and its foundation is drilled down the rocks at that same height.
Across the house’s stilts is another structure that houses the 40-step spiral staircase that leads to a bridge. More than bridging the stairs to the house, there are a couple of lounge chairs and a table making it a perfect spot to hang out while enjoying the view.
You step inside the house, seeing its spaciousness with the light and the curves.
On the left side of the doorway are pull-out storage areas for shoes, coats, scarves, and much more. But what’s remarkable was how they seamlessly built the toilet along that; you wouldn’t even notice the door to it!
They decided to use glass for the bath to create the illusion of space.
The glass walls made the bathroom and the entire house look bigger and more spacious, and its height is perfect even for tall people. Across the bathroom and the door-side cabinetry were the wirings, heating, and pump kept behind, and it can be accessed through a small contraption right on top of the personal fridge.
Since the house was made for rentals, they only provided basic kitchen needs.
It has a two-burner stovetop and a beautiful granite sink.
You might think there won’t be enough counter space, but the incline of the house’s shape gives a deeper countertop where you can place more things for food preparation. There are enough drawers for storage, too.
The bed was strategically positioned closest to the full glass window facing the view outside.
Don’t you just love how comfortable it looks? Those soft sheets invite you to dive right in, and you wake up to that beautiful view.
The work-slash-dining table is placed the same way – fixed to the glass as if it is part of the window’s design.
The builders and owners also gave so much thought to the lighting.
There are LED strip lights almost everywhere – from the shower floor to the center ceiling, from the kitchen counter to the bed’s headboard. They ensured that most lights could be dimmed according to the guest’s liking.
But the biggest winner is the two skylights.
One can be opened to let the air in, while the other is for natural lighting and some stargazing.
