Cleaning the toilet is my absolute least fun chore to do. I am personally a big fan of cleaning and keeping the house nice and tidy, but I just dread the bathroom. It is gross and completely unsanitary. Unfortunately, it has to be cleaned at some point.
I recently discovered a clever and simple way to clean the toilet bowl, and I am proud to say that it works! It takes the labor out of cleaning the bowl as you won’t ever have to scrub a toilet after trying this trick.
All you need to do is toss in a “toilet cleaning bomb” in the bowl and let the concoction do the work.
To create these cleaning bombs, you will need the following:
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup corn strach
- 25 drops of essential oil (citrus preferred)
- Spray bottle filled with water
- Mold
- Gallon-sized Ziplock bag
- Small Ziplock bags
First, combine all of the dry ingredients in the gallon-sized Ziplock bag and mix. Next, spray the ingredients 2 to 3 times using the spray bottle. Continue to knead the ingredients so it’s well blended. Spray as much water as necessary until you create a dough-like consistency.
Add 25 drops of essential oil to the bag. Citrus is preferred because it has cleaning properties that are highly beneficial for this use case. Next, pack the mixture into the molds. Be sure to make sure they are firmly stuffed inside each slot.
Let the mold sit and dry for a few days. It should be completely dry and hard before you remove them. Once you remove the molds, let them dry for another two days.
Store these dried molds in a small ziplock bag, and use them whenever needed.
To use, drop one of these cleaning bombs into a toilet bowl and let it sit.
Once you return, just wipe the inside of the bowl. It should be completely clean!
