A lot of people love to have beautiful gardens on their property. Not only because it adds beauty to a home but also reflects the home owner’s character.

Building a garden is already a mountain of tasks, maintaining it is another thing.

It takes discipline, knowledge, and dedication to accomplish all of that.

For beginners, there are quite a bunch of video tutorials online where professional gardeners share gardening tips and tricks. You can also take inspiration from articles and magazines that focus on gardening.

However, you might want to reconsider this one.

As featured in one of the countless viral videos of the famous YouTube channel ‘Great Big Story’, this garden is behind black steel doors. It is located in Northumberland, England at Alnwick Castle.

The garden was known to be created by the Duchess of Northumberland. It’s not the typical garden where you would want to smell beautiful blooming flowers. A warning that goes to everyone who would dare lay a footstep inside this not so forbidden garden.

It’s considered the deadliest garden in the entire world: ‘The Poison Garden’!

This castle homes around 100 killers. Masking themselves behind some colorful and beautiful flowers and plants. You wouldn’t want to carelessly lay a finger on any of them nor would you dare smell them.

From all sorts of silent killers like Deadly Nightshade (also known as Atropa belladonna), datura, aconitum, and much more.

Every single plant inside The Poison Garden can kill a human in more ways than one.

  4. Castor Bean (Ricinus communis)
  5. White Snakeroot (Ageratina altissima)
  6. Deadly Nightshade (Atropa belladonna)
  7. Water Hemlock (Cicuta maculata)

A funny yet frightening tour.

This man seems to have no fear, even when surrounded by waves of deadly plants and flowers.

His name is Trevor Jones, the head gardener of the strange place. He knows all the plants inside and also knows how they can kill a human.

Trevor is very knowledgeable about the “killing abilities” of each plant inside, it’s just that he’s quite comic while explaining it.

How do you associate happiness with death?

It’s extremely hard but his touring style will show you. He can smile ear to ear while saying the word “kill”.

Who’s idea is this garden?

According to Trevor, the Duchess came up with the idea of having a poison garden rather than the usual herb garden simply because she wanted the place to be more interesting.

He also mentioned that a lot of the poisonous plants can be found at typical cottage gardens. These deadly plants can grow in anybody’s yard, in fact, you might have one of them now in your garden. (oops!)

It’s scary because we might stumble upon these plants somewhere. We better do our homework about these killer plants!

From scary to funny.

These plants are indeed deadly but Trevor’s delivery on his explanation somehow sugarcoats that fear. In fact, even online viewers have noticed it.

One YouTube user commented:

“The way he talks so cheerfully as he talks about poisons killing you is a mood πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚”

Another one wrote:

“Someone get this man his own show πŸ˜‚ He’s so happy talking about poisonous plants, I love it!”

While this one commented:

“I like how he acknowledges everything will kill you and yet he just casually stands maskless right next to them lol.”
