Dish soap is what keeps our dishes clean and free of germs and caked on food. But there are also some other pretty handy things your dish soap can do for you around your home.

1) Protect Your Houseplants
Protect your houseplants from bugs by mixing just a drop of dish soap in a spray bottle with water and using the solution to mist your plants. The soapy layer will deter bugs away from houseplants.
2) Grease Stains
Dish soap is great for cutting through grease on your pots and pans. It’s also good for removing grease stains in your laundry. Just pour some dish soap on your stain and let it soak in overnight before you launder your garment.
3) Remove Oil Stains From Concrete
If you’re driveway or garage floor looks like an oiled stained mess, you can cover the stain with a thick layer of baking soda and then a layer of dish soap. Let it sit for a few hours and scrub your stain down. Next, rinse with a garden hose.
4) Fix A Squeaky Door
Use some dish soap to lubricate the hinges of a squeaky door.
5) Trap Fruit Flies
Create a fruit fly trap by mixing two or three drops of dish soap into a bowl of white vinegar and leave it where you have a fly problem. The vinegar will attract the flies and the soap will trap them.
6) Clean Tools
Soaking your tools in dish soap and water will not only remove the grime and grease but it will also prevent your tools from getting rusty.
7) DIY Ice Packs
Pour water into a freezer bag with some dish soap and freeze. This will create an ice pack that will stay frozen longer than plain water.

If your hair comes out a little too dark after you dye it you can wash it with some dish soap to lighten it up.
9) Delicates
Mix a tablespoon of dish soap in a sink of warm water and use this bath to wash your delicate clothing in.
10) Cure Poison Ivy
The number one rule of poison ivy is to prevent it from spreading through the oils from the blisters on your skin. The best way to do this is to wash the area with dish soap to dry up those oils.
11) Kill Weeds
Instead of using chemicals on your lawn you can mix a teaspoon of dish soap with a cup of salt and gallon of white vinegar and pour into a spray bottle and spray on weeds you want to kill.
12) Prevent Foggy Glasses
Drop a drop of dish soap on your glasses or sunglasses and wipe it away. The leftover film won’t be visible but it will prevent them from fogging up.
13) Clean Jewelry
Pour some seltzer in a bowl and place two drops of dish soap into the bowl. Place your jewelry inside for about five minutes and swish them around a bit before you take them out and clean them off with a soft toothbrush. Rinse with water.
14) Sidewalk De-Ice
Mix a teaspoon of dish soap and a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol along with a 1/2 gallon of hot/warm water. Pour this mixture over your walkways or stairs to de-ice them. It won’t re-freeze.
15) Unclog a Drain
Pour dish soap into your toilet or drain and let it sit for 16 minutes. Follow with a bucket of very warm to hot (not boiling) water to unclog your drain. This can work in your toilet, sink, or tub.
