There’s nothing that makes me more depressed than getting sick and that’s why I do everything in my power to prevent it. Whether that’s eating right, exercising regularly, or staying sanitary, getting sick is not an option for me. In the unfortunate scenarios when I do get sick, however, my cabinet is stocked full of medicine and home remedies to alleviate any pain and discomfort.
The medicine I use the most? Vicks VapoRub. It’s great to use on your chest and throat when you’re suffering from coughing, but did you know that it has so many more health related benefits? Here are some of the best ones…
Stop Earaches
If you’re suffering from an earache, try rubbing some VapoRub onto a cotton ball and sticking that cotton ball by your ear. KSL.com says,
“For mild earaches, use a small amount of Vicks VapoRub on a cotton ball and put it in your ear for several hours, several times a day. This will help reduce the pain, but it will not clear up a possible infection.”
Suppress Coughing
Yes, we all know that the intended purpose of VapoRub is to help with coughing. Did you know, however, that you can receive the cough suppressant benefits of VapoRub without having to rub it all over your chest and neck? The next time you have a cough, try rubbing VapoRub on your feet and then covering them with socks. You’ll find that you’ll get the same cough suppressing benefits without needing to rub it all over your body!
Moisturize Your Feet
If you want smooth and soft feet, trying rubbing VapoRub on your feet and letting it stay overnight. The camphor ingredient found in VapoRub can reduce aches in your feet if they’re feeling tired!

No one like getting a cut on their finger, but what’s even worse is if it gets infected. To prevent infections, rub some VapoRub on the affected area. The increased blood flow that results from the VapoRub will help facilitate healing which will help to prevent infections!
