Flatware doesn’t last forever. Eventually, we need to buy a new set. But that doesn’t mean we have to toss out our old set.
Here are ways you can repurpose your flatware around the house.
Remove Peeling Paint
Apply your paint stripper and run a spoon along curved areas and a fork inside crevices to help remove the paint.
Napkin Holders
Bend your silverware over a pipe and use them as napkin holders. Get the tutorial here.
Untangle Rug Tassels
Use a fork to brush through your rug tassels to untangle them.
Spoon Hooks
Bend a spoon and screw it into a wall or door where you need a hook. You can also screw the spoon hooks to a piece of vintage molding.
Fork Picture Holder
Bend the fork prongs upward and the end of the spoon backward to create a unique picture holder.
Transplant Seedlings
Use a fork to lift the roots of a seedling so you can transfer it into your garden.
Paintbrush Cleaning
Forks work really well to brush out your paintbrush bristles while you’re cleaning it.
Hammer a Nail Straight
Place a nail between two fork prongs to help you hammer your nail straight and keep your fingers safe
Card Holders
Place a card between the prongs of a fork and bend the end of your fork backward.
Cabinet Fixtures
Bend a spoon or fork there is space between the utensil and the cabinet, then drill through your utensil and into the cabinet.
Curtain Holder
Bend a fork in half and drill the end of it into the wall.
Perfect Grout
Coat a spoon with liquid dish soap and use the spoon to smooth out your grout. The soap will prevent the grout from sticking to your spoon and the spoon will make your grout job come out perfect.
Make Art
Paint some utensils and toss it into a cute picture frame to make some art for your kitchen.
