We all know that Windex is great for making our windows and glass crystal clear with a streak-free shine but that’s not all that blue stuff can do.
There are lots of household uses for Windex that you’ve probably never heard of. It’s widely known that Windex can be put to work in many areas of your home.
Here are some alternative uses for the blue stuff:
Move Large Appliances
Generously spray Windex in front of large appliances when you slide them out. This will help them to slide out faster and without making scuff marks. Only use on Windex-safe surfaces.
Unclog a Printhead
If there seems to be an issue with your printhead, try cleaning it. Turn off your printer spray a few spritzes of Windex onto a paper towel. Remove the ink cartridge and place the paper towel over the printhead. Let it sit for 24 hours. Make sure the printhead is completely dry before you try to print again.
Clean Your Dry Erase Board
Water just won’t do it when it comes to getting your dry erase board clean. A little Windex will go a long way in keeping it white. Just spritz some on and wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.
Stain Remover
Spray some colorless Windex on your upholstery and clothing stains and let it soak in for about 15 minutes before you rinse it clean. This should remove your stain.
Clean Patio Furniture
Patio furniture can get pretty grimy since it’s outside all the time. Wipe it down with some Windex to have it looking brand new.
Clean Your Cell Phone
Cell phones are super filthy since we are constantly touching them. We take them everywhere, including the bathroom if we’re going to be honest, so you’ll want to clean it from time to time. Spray a bit of Windex on a microfiber cloth and run it over the screen and buttons. Just make sure not to spray too much.
Kill and Repel Bugs
Windex makes an inexpensive insecticide. You can also spray some in areas where you want to repel bugs.
Clean Kid’s Toys
Kids are gross which means that their toys are too since they are touching them all day. Wipe them off with some Windex and rinse with water to get all that grossness off.
Cut Through Grease
Use some Windex to cut through tough grease stains on your pots, pans, countertops, stoves and everywhere else that collects grease. Make sure to wipe down with water if it’s something you cook with or near an area that you prepare food on.
Crystal
Crystal can easily collect dust and Windex can help get it off. Try to avoid the decoratively painted area or a least run a little test on that part to make sure the Windex doesn’t wipe it away.
All-Purpose Cleaner
You don’t need a different cleaner for every room you clean. Windex works well in the kitchen, the bathroom, and in closets and cabinets. It’s safe on granite, stainless steel, tile, marble, and laminate surfaces.
Loosen a Tight Ring
Spray some Windex on your finger where the ring is stuck and gentle shimmy the ring off. The Windex will make your skin shrink a little.
Remove a Zit
Because of these shrinking properties, Windex is said to quickly eliminate a zit if you add a tiny bit to the spot. We can’t confirm or deny this and it’s entirely up to your own judgment if you think putting a chemical cleaner on your face is a good idea.
Clean Jewelry
Spray some Windex on your jewelry for a minute or two, no more, and rinse carefully. Do not use on items that can’t be cleaned with alcohol or ammonia.
Unstick a Zipper
Spray some Windex on a stuck zipper and try to shimmy it up and down to help free it.
