“Cleanliness is next to godliness.”

Most homeowners would say “amen” to this adage because nothing beats the cleanliness of your home.

We put a lot of effort into our cleaning if we want it to be spotless and dust-free, including buying the best cleaning materials and products in the market.

But these cleaning materials need some TLC, too.

If we want to ensure that our house stays at that same level of cleanliness, we should also look into the tools we use for cleaning.

From brooms to mops, from vacuums to rags – all these need to be in the best condition possible to maintain a clean home.

Maintaining the optimal state of these materials isn’t easy.

The use of electronic devices might need some maintenance, repair, or change of parts. Others, like rags, should be discarded if they no longer serve this purpose.

If you think about it, it’s a waste, but it’d be deemed useless by then.

The broom is one of the house’s basic, yet most important, cleaning tools.

You use it in always any room because it sweeps off any type of waste – be it as solid as crumpled paper or as invisible as dust. But because of this, the broom is also one of the household materials that easily gets worn and torn.

Here’s a home hack to ensure your broom looks and sweeps like it was new.

This hack involves two of the most common kitchen items: vinegar and salt. No, we’re not cooking something; we’re cleaning your broom with these great pantry staples because not only do they give flavor to your cooking, they’re fantastic cleaning agents, too.

The vinegar’s acidity is what makes it great for cleaning any type of dirt.

Whenever you find something icky or messy around your house, grab a bottle of vinegar, pour it on the surface, and you will see how fast it cleans the mess. It can clean almost anything – soap scums, oily surfaces, sticky glue from stickers, and much more.

This makes vinegar the best way to clean your broom because it helps clean the tight parts between the broom’s bristles and washes all that dirt away.

On the other hand, the ions in salt help absorb dust and other small particles.

The negative and positive ions in sodium chloride help absorb particles – dust or grease – and can easily be dissolved and discarded, leaving the surface clean. Salt also helps keep your broom’s bristles in shape.
