Just two hours away from the hustle and bustle of New York City is the small town of Narrowsburg, a quiet vacation community with an interesting past. The ‘Cutest Little House’ sits in a small nook of Narrowsburg called Luxton Lake and has recently become an Instagrammer’s dream.
The quaint cottage was purchased by Tina Spangler and was fully renovated in 2013.
In 1983, the dam of Luxton Lake was breached, and the lake was drained. The once vibrant community seemed to disappear overnight, and many cabins were abandoned. Thankfully, Luxton Lake is starting to experience a bit of a revival, and Spangler’s ‘Cutest Little House’ is a dreamy getaway right in the heart of it.
Inside, Spangler created an absolutely dreamy retro getaway that guests can rent on Airbnb.
The living room wood floors and wood paneling on the walls. Spangler created a classic 1950’s feel with the authentic sofa and chairs from that era. The decor was kept simple with a striped area rug and a small rifle on the wall.
The retro kitchen is tiny, but it has every amenity you need.
The kitchen boasts a mini-fridge, sink, and restored mid-century GE stove and oven. Spangler also installed shelves, taking advantage of the vertical space and providing a bit of extra storage or a place for decor. A small dining table is the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry in the morning.
The master bedroom in the little cabin has a full-size antique bed.
Like many older homes from this era, the bedrooms are small but full of wonderful fine details like the wood trim around the windows. The antique bed complements the home’s historic past perfectly, letting guests take a trip back in time.
The bathroom is one of the main highlights of the home.
Although there isn’t a shower, there is a beautiful antique clawfoot soaking tub with a detachable showerhead faucet. The wood paneling was painted a gorgeous grayish blue that contrasts wonderfully with the white bathroom fixtures.
Another room with a twin-size bunk bed is great for kids.
Nothing is more quintessential to a family getaway at the ‘lake’ than bouncing around off the bunk beds at the cabin. Imagine making fun memories at this adorable little getaway, so fun!
If you need to sleep more than four people, you can also rent out Spangler’s vintage ‘Canned Ham’ trailer on the property.
Inside the auxiliary trailer, the retro decor is just as authentic as it is inside the main home. Even the original appliances have been maintained and are fully-functional.
The ‘Cutest Little House’ also has a back deck with patio table.
After a fun day of hiking and exploring in the mountains, relax and have a nice barbecue with friends on the back deck. Afterward, head down to the fire pit to roast some marshmallows and make s’mores.

“Fantastically cute cabin. Perfect for a couple or family who is looking for a break from it all,” Matthew said.
“Tina’s cottage surpassed my expectations and was exactly as described. Communication was excellent and the local tips she provided made for a very enjoyable stay. I’d absolutely stay here again!” Shane raved.
“This really is the cutest house! Tidy and perfectly done in Vintage decor. A highlight was sitting in the sun on the porch and watching a hummingbird at the feeder. The house faces the road, but it was peaceful, and across the street was a garden – so it was actually quite private,” Belinda reviewed.
