Upcycling has become a trend over the last few years, and we totally love it!
Instead of throwing away objects that are old or broken, it’s much more ethical and environmentally friendly to fix them up and change them a little in order to serve a new purpose.
These 3 projects are perfect.
If you’re into upcycling stuff, or if you simply have old pots and teapots around and have no idea what to do with them, just keep reading.
A Turkish YouTube channel recently shared three amazing ways to make these items beautiful and useful at the same time.
So let’s get started!
1. Birdfeeder
Take a teapot and cover it in multi-surface primer. Once it’s dry, use acrylic paint on the whole teapot.
Then, cut cute home-related pictures out of rice paper and carefully stick them on the teapot. Use a sponge paintbrush to put some gold paint around the rim of the teapot.
Use stone varnish to make sure everything will stay in place and will look good.
Then make it really pop.
Make a DIY stand for your birdfeeder using wood, and hang the teapot as needed.
Use the lid of the teapot as a water feeder for the birds, by turning it upside down, making sure it fits in the stand.
2. Fancy flower pot
To begin with, cover the teapot with acrylic paint, and wait for it to dry.
In the meantime, use a rolling pin to work on polymer clay.
Once it is ready and the teapot is dry, then brush the latter with white glue and stick the clay on it very carefully, making sure that it covers all its surface.
Then, decorate it as if it were made of stone, and then cut out a piece that will be the door.
Using more clay, add vines, windows, anything that will make the teapot look like a proper house taken out of a fairytale.
Paint it and let it dry before putting artificial flowers inside. It will look amazing!
3. Stool
This one requires an old pot. Remove the handles, and cover in primer paint. Once it’s completely dry- about a day later-, use spray paint to color it, and let it dry again.
In the meantime, choose a fabric that you like, and make something like a pillowcase out of it.
Use upholstery foam to make the pillow and put it in the pillowcase you made earlier.
Turn the pot upside down and attach four furniture legs to it, making sure they are strong and well-attached enough to carry a person’s weight.
Place the pillow in the pot.
For a final touch, glue some decorative items on the surface of the pot to make it look fancier.
These ideas are definitely great projects you can do if you want to cut back on waste and give old things a chance to live again as something new. At the same time, you will feel creative and will certainly have a good time while working on them.
