Need some heartburn, upset stomach, and indigestion relief? Often times we’ll reach for the Alka-Seltzer when we have these symptoms. But you may find yourself grabbing for the Alka-Seltzer to help out with a few common household problems too.
Here are 15 ways to use Alka-Selzter around your home.
1) Remove Stains From Tupperware
Fill a container with hot water put one to two tablets into the water. The stains should disappear in about a half hour.
2) Clean the Coffee Machine
Fill your coffee machine with water and add three Alka-Seltzer tablets. You can run your coffee maker once the tablets dissolve. Run your machine through another cycle of just water before you make coffee.
3) Clean Dentures
Put one tablet in a glass of warm water and place your dentures inside. Leave your dentures in there for about ten minutes. This will help to remove stains.
4) Toilet Bowl
Place two Alka-Seltzer tablets into your toilet bowl and let them dissolve. Use a brush to scrub your toilet clean.
5) Deodorize a Cooler
Pour water into your cooler so that it’s filled about one inch high. Drop in four tablets and let it sit for an hour. Pour out and rinse dry.
6) Narrow Bottles and Vases
If you have a bottle or vase that are narrow and hard to clean out, you can put two tablets inside the container and add hot water. Let this sit for an hour before you rinse it out.
7) Soothe a Urinary Tract Infection
Drink a glass of water with two tablets of Alka-Seltzer in it as soon as you start showing symptoms of a UTI. This will soothe the symptoms of the infection but may not cure the infection.
8) Brighten Your Whites
Place your whites in a tub with one gallon of warm water and pop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets. Hang your item in the sun to dry once the items is finished soaking.
9) Clean Jewelry
Put two tablets in a bowl of warm water and place your jewelry inside. Make sure you don’t include any pearl or opal jewelry.
10) Unclog a Drain
Drop four tablets down your drain and pour in one cup of white vinegar. Let this solution sit for 10 minutes before you pour in a pot of boiling water.
11) Soothe an Insect Bite
Use two tablets in some warm water, Soak a cotton ball in the solution and rub on your bug bite for 20 minutes.
12) Deodorize a Fridge
Place one Alka-Seltzer tablet in a cup of water and put it in the refrigerator. Leave it in there for at least 20 minutes.
13) All-Purpose Cleaner
Drop three tablets into 8 oz. of water. When it stops fizzing, you can dampen a sponge with it and use it to wipe down your counters and tiles.
14) Lure Fish
Put an Alka-Seltzer tablet in a tube jig and cast your pole. The fish will be attracted to the bubbles.
15) Remove Burnt Food From Cookware
Put three tablets inside your dish and fill with hot water. Let this soak for an hour to remove stains.
