It’s possible to buy natural commercial detergents, but why splurge when you can make it yourself! White vinegar is an effective alternative to store bought detergents. It’s cheap, easy to use, and easy to find! Here are ten other benefits for using white vinegar in your laundry!

1. White vinegar’s acidity makes it ideal for removing sweat and deodorant stains, even with a cold wash. Just apply the vinegar directly to the stains before washing.

2. When mixed with salt, vinegar has strong antibacterial qualities. Add 2 teaspoons of salt to 1/2 cup of white vinegar, and any bacterial residue on clothes will be killed.

3. White vinegar has the same softening effects as natural fabric softeners. Add 1/2 cup to a regular sized load, and your clothes will come out soft and fresh.

4. Most people are afraid of  moving away from the conventional detergents because they fear natural detergents won’t fight off smells. However, vinegar will fight off the strongest and worst odors.

5. Skin irritation is often caused by residue left from detergents. Using White vinegar does not leave any residue. If you still use detergent, add 1/2 a cup to the load, and it will remove any residue as well.

6. Vinegar will remove almost any stain including red wine, coffee, grease, etc. Mix 1/2 cup of vinegar with hot water and leave the soiled clothing in the solution overnight. Wash as usual afterwards.

7. There will be no more static shocks when you switch from detergent to vinegar!

8. Soak delicate and hand wash only clothes in 6 tablespoons of white vinegar in cold water for an hour to have an easy yet effective wash. After the hour, a simple scrub will leave you with clean clothes.

9. The residue from standard detergents is what makes pet hairs stick to clothes. Use a 1/2 cup vinegar for a regular load, and this will not be a problem anymore.
