When we watch home tours, we can’t help but admire the beauty of these homes.
But it’s a unique experience to witness the transformation of the home firsthand.
This is what President Chay showed everyone when he uploaded a video of how they transformed a 1991 bus into a luxury tiny home.
Their video garnered over 2M views and once you see the video, you’ll understand why.
They bought a 1991 Spikes After School bus from a guy who collected trucks through Facebook.
It was worn out, but it had good engine transmission, so they liked it.
Inside, the bus was unimaginable.
Everything was sticky and full of rust, termites, and other pests roamed the bus.
The first step was to clean the whole bus.
Then, they removed the floor and decided to paint the ceiling white.
However, they didn’t like the outcome since the spray gun that they used left lines on the ceiling, and not just that.
It rained, and they discovered that it leaked everywhere.
There was only one thing to do, replace the entire ceiling
. After that was done, they started framing the bus and installing wiring.
They also installed a real door and added three tanks, fresh, grey, and black.
Once that was done, they also added more insulation.
The next project was the drywall, bathroom, and electricity.
The brothers also wanted electricity wherever they go so they added a generator at the back.
However, it didn’t look nice.
Using a part of the old roof, they created a box for the generator.
Then they started with the loft.
They wanted it to be spacious so four people could sleep there comfortably.
Chaye worked on the kitchen cabinets but realized that they were too big.
He had to resize them.
For the living room, they created benches facing each other.
They received their beautiful new seat, however; it was too large to fit, so they had to find an alternate solution.
In the end, they chose to cut a few inches off the bathroom wall, and it worked!
Another drawback was that the doors they created weren’t the ones they wanted, so they had to make them again.
Installing the AC also had its challenges.
They had to remove some parts and called it a ‘bus surgery,” but it still worked out just fine.
By this time, they only had a few days before their trip.
They painted the bus black, and it was gorgeous!
Unfortunately, after a few days, one part of the bus collapsed.
The damage was the result of an accident with a tree. They attempted to repair it, but the black paint made the bus soak up all the heat.
With just a few days left, they had to find a solution.
They spent $300 on repair and used metal from the old ceiling to create some sort of helmet for the bus.
When they were about to paint it blue, it rained.
Instead of feeling sorry, they used this time to finish the interior of the bus, and one day before their scheduled trip, they were able to paint the bus blue, and in the nick of time, they did it!
The finished project looked so beautiful.
I guess the old saying is true.
