Imagine living tiny in a converted home with epic views by the beach.

Rachel and Greig and their two children don’t have to imagine it because this is the life that they live.

They have converted a school bus into a functional tiny home with a macadamia farm plus magnificent panoramic views of the ocean.

They bought the land around 2017 because they fell in love with what it has to offer and its possibilities.

Rachel and Greig got a school bus and converted it into their family home, where they live with their two young sons during the winter months.

During the summer, they rent it out on Airbnb as a passive income source.

They do plan to build another house on the property where they can live full-time and the house bus can be rented full-time.

To take advantage of the magnificent outdoors on their land, they built an outdoor deck plus a very big yard so they have space when they want to go outside.

They added a dining table and a fire pit.

Plus they added two separate bathtubs which they keep covered under the deck floor.

Pretty neat, huh?

Now, they can have a bubble bath under the stars with a fire going in the pit.

We love that they’ve added so many things on the outdoor deck to encourage them, their sons, and whoever is renting to go and stay outside.

They have bean bags and a hammock where they can read, write, or just lounge about.

Maybe you’re thinking they did it this way because the inside is just not an ideal space.

That is farthest from the truth.

When you walk inside, there are different separate spaces for different uses.

On one end of the indoor area, there is a couch where you can sit and read.

Just beside it is a play area where kids and adults can create.

The kitchen is great for preparing a full meal with all the counter space and a separate cooking area.

There is also a seating area where they can have their meals or enjoy their sea if it’s too hot or cold outside.

Whenever anyone decides to go tiny, they really need to carefully plan the layout of the home.

It’s easy to place the bedroom, lounge, living area, kitchen, and dining area.

But it’s always challenging for the bathroom and laundry area.

Should it be outside or inside?

Can you splurge for a separate shower and toilet or is it the same space?

Bathroom sink or multi-functional sink in the kitchen?

If you’re planning to go tiny, always remember the layout for your bathroom and your needs.

Since they knew this was going to be a family home, they extended their space outward and upward.

This was necessary to provide the space for their lounge area and the three bedrooms they needed.

And don’t forget the additional storage to keep things out of sight.

Going tiny is not for everyone.

But when you find the right space and right place, all these adjustments will definitely be worth it.
