Meet Russel and Leah, situated in Waikato, New Zealand.

They have spent three years preparing and planning for their own version of a happy place.

The long planning helped a lot to create a truly amazing and functional home.

So let’s dive into their small yet spectacular simple home.

The exterior is black with a copper accent all around.

Its size is 10 1/2 meters by 3 meters.

The house is surrounded by a beautiful view of the countryside.

Everything fits nicely and perfectly, just the way they wanted.

Almost all sides have either windows or doors to let the air in during summer.

The kitchen and dining area are set outdoors which is also beautifully situated.

It’s an all-in-one area!

The interior has a different vibe when you enter.

The colors chosen mixed well all in all.

The dominance of black and white is accentuated with wood, the green tones of their living room couch, and copper to set the balance.

The lounge is spacious enough that when their children visit, it pulls into a bed so they can sleep over.

The breakfast bar is conveniently near.

Along with the kitchen that pops out with its color combination.

“I’ve always wanted a black kitchen. Funnily enough, it actually hides everything,” said Leah explaining her kitchen.

It can be easily cleaned and is low maintenance.

With the warmth of wood and brass popping out.

The doors and windows helped in with natural light, so they consume less energy.

The storage is everywhere, from the bottom of the sink to hanging drawers and cabinets.

The appliances are neatly associated with the design.

The bedroom has a different approach though.

The colors are lighter with a vintage vibe.

But it still has black and white accents.

The wardrobe is just right with all their belongings.

The bed is situated in the middle with a side table that came from Leah’s grandmother.

On Russel’s side, they put it in a small box and attached it to the wall, more like a hanging table.

They have really big doors!

The best part is that the doors are big enough to open into the outdoors from the bedroom.

The last part is the bathroom.

It is set inside their bedroom for easy access.

Its setup is unique but still roomy.

The space usage is really thought of before the builders put up all the necessary items in the bathroom.

The laundry section looks great.

The washer/dryer combo, the items for laundry, and the iron fit into one small portion that hides behind a cabinet.

Leah shared that waking up in a tiny house has a sense of freedom to it, and it’s everything that she wanted it to be.

And when you setup your own house, comfort and freedom will always play a big role.
