Windshields get dirty pretty fast.

They catch whatever is in the air when you’re car’s moving, and dirt can accumulate faster than you think.

So any car owner needs to bite the bullet and clean the windshield regularly.

The inside of your windshield can get filmy too – except, cleaning it can be a real pain in the neck.

Ever wondered if there was a more efficient way to clean the inside of your windshield?

Well, there is!

Hacks by Dad, a YouTube channel run by – you guessed it – someone’s dad, shared a pretty helpful tip for cleaning our car windshields.

And no, he’s not trying to sell you something expensive.

This is no paid ad or infomercial about some fancy, high-tech brush or expensive fabric.

All this method needs is some stuff you can get at the hardware store for really cheap.

Hacks by Dad cleans the inside of his windshield with a simple microfiber cloth.

But it’s the technique that makes his method shine.

How do you normally wipe a windshield?

Maybe a simple circular motion? Or give it the old “wax on, wax off” treatment like Mr. Miyagi showed us?

That might do a decent enough job, but if you really want it as clean as possible, try out the “cobra” method shown here.

First, your cleaning agent will be half a gallon of water and a small dash of Dawn dishwashing liquid.

And your fabric will be two microfiber cloths.

Hacks By Dad is using a 12×12 inch size on here. They are waffle-weave, as he prefers them for getting the job done more efficiently.

The dual-sided variety will also work. So if your hardware doesn’t have the waffle-weave variant for whatever reason, you can still make it work.

Keep in mind that when using the dual-sided one, the side with the shorter hairs will work better.

Now, what’s this “cobra method” exactly? Well, you wrap the cloth around your fingers like he does.

The cloth should look like a sleeve fitting over your fingers.

The idea behind this is that applying pressure with the top of your fingers will let you wipe the windshield with a lot less difficulty on your arms.

You’re essentially making the motion of a snake striking with its mouth.

Imagine a Kung-Fu move where you make a snake with your hands, except use it to wipe the cloth across the glass.

Between the similarity to waxing on and waxing off, plus the kung-fu-like motion, it really makes you feel like you’re training in martial arts, doesn’t it?

Follow his lead if you just want the same results as him.

Now, you gotta dry it off too. That’s where the second cloth comes in.

Wrap it around your fingers in exactly the same way, and repeat that striking-cobra motion you just did.

Show that windshield who’s the boss!

And after a few minutes, you should end up with a really clean windshield without all of the awkward motions.

Pretty cool, eh?
