How do you clean your glass sliding doors the easy way without leaving any streaks?

A lot of us would reach for that bottle of glass cleaner and just spray and wipe, right?

What if we told you there’s a better way to do it? And it involves using an ingredient that you always have in your home.

DoItYourSelfDad shows us in this video how he cleaned his glass sliding door easily with a cleaning material you wouldn’t expect. What is it?

It’s dish soap.

Yes, you read that right, dish soap. Who knew, right?

And you just need three other things, a squeegee, a microfiber cloth, and water.

You can also use a bucket to lessen the mess but that’s totally optional.

If you’re using a bucket, depending on the size and dimension of your glass sliding door, you only need to fill it up to about 1/4 of the bucket.

Less is more

Add about 5-6 drops of dish soap and mix until it becomes soapy. There’s no need to make it foamy. Just mix to make sure the soap and water blend well.

Now comes the fun part.

Spray the glass door with water using a hose or use a bucket to throw water at the glass door. Soak the cloth in the soapy water and wipe every inch of the glass door.

Use your squeegee to wipe off the soapy water. Make sure that you overlap so you don’t get soap lines.

Repeat on all glass doors or windows.

And that’s it, you’re done!

And the next time you do it, you can even make this a fun activity with your young children. Put on your swimsuits and have them hose down the glass door.

Or give them the soapy wet cloth and wipe the glass doors.

Now, what is it about dish soap that makes it such an effective cleaner?

According to the Clean and Simple Cleaning website, it’s pretty simple.

Because it’s pretty much a neutral cleaner, neither acidic nor alkaline, dish soaps are the safest choice to use on almost any surface, granite, marble, ceramic, glass, and many more.

They’ve also been designed to cut through food grease so they’ll definitely cut through all that dirt and stain.

So many of the viewers have vouched for this method and have even added a few of their tips.

“Have been cleaning windows like this for almost 50 years, it works every time… only extra thing I would do is get a barely damp towel and dry the frames and seals, then there’s no drips or marks anywhere,” Molly Penwhistle shared.

“I started doing this technique last year. I discovered it accidentally after the futility of Windex-type products. But I use a telescoping sponge, like those used for car washes (bought mine at Harbor Freight) so there’s less bending and reaching on higher windows. I never even squeegee- just hose it off and let it dry. Very simple technique and very effective,” Levi Efrauim added.

“As an owner of a professional window cleaning company, I can vouch for his methods. Though it’s not as perfect as hiring a professional service, it certainly gets the job done if you’re on a budget!” T J agreed.
