Cleaning isn’t fun, but some rooms are worse than others.

Nobody wants to clean the bathroom, but it also can’t clean itself. It’s funny how a room that cleans people can get so dirty. If you are embarrassed to pull the curtain back on your shower or if your toilet has seen better days, it’s time to find a cleaning solution that works.

Bathroom cleaning products don’t always get the job done, and they can be expensive and contain harsh chemicals.

Even when they work, you have to scrub for what seems like hours. Don’t you wish there was a better way to lean?

What if you could make your own bathroom cleaner? This Simple Home recently shared the instructions for making a bathroom cleaner that cuts through soap scum and will leave your bathroom sparkling clean. Here’s how you make it.

Supplies:

  • Dawn Dish Soap
  • White Vinegar
  • Clean Spray Bottle
  • Scrubbing Wand

Directions:

Step 1: Fill a spray bottle with vinegar and add several squirts of Dawn dish soap.

Step 2: Spray the bathtub with the mixture and allow it to soak in overnight.

Step 3: Use the scrubbing wand to scrub the sides of the bathtub. You might need to apply some water to create some suds.

Step 4: Wipe down the bathtub.

No matter how clean you manage to get your bathroom, once someone makes a trip to it and leaves a smell behind, it can seem dirty.

You can buy expensive products online or from infomercials that will cover the smells, but you can make your own for a much more affordable price. These sprays work better than aerosol sprays, and they are easy to make. Here’s how to make your own.

Ingredients:

  • Distilled Water
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Essential Oils
  • Spray Bottle

Directions:

Step 1: Fill the spray bottle about halfway with the distilled water.

Step 2: Fill the other half of the bottle with rubbing alcohol.

Step 3: Chose the essential oils you like best. You can mix different scents to create different fragrance combinations. Some will be better at covering up odors than others, so experiment to see which ones work best. You can also experiment with the amount of essential oils you put into the liquid. The more you add, the more potent it will be.

Step 4: Label the bottle and place it in your bathroom. When someone is going to use the bathroom, they simply spray the mixture into the toilet before they use it. The mixture creates a barrier that prevents bad odors from leaving the water. The essential oils give it a pleasant fragrance instead.

Keeping your home clean is a serious chore that can take a lot of time out of your day.

It can seem like you are never really finished. Battling soap scum and bad odors is just the beginning. Finding the right products to do it all with can be difficult. Making your own gives you more control over what you use in your home and around your family, and it can be a more affordable option.

These two cleaning solutions are a great start, but you can use things you already have in your home to make a lot of other cleaning solutions, as well. Don’t be afraid to experiment until you find something that works for you.
