Chin hair, upper lip hair, and even sideburn hair. It’s a fact of life that comes with age. And I’m not talking about men.
Women are constantly looking for ways to remove our facial hair naturally without burning ourselves with harsh chemicals or lasers. Here are the 12 best DIY facial hair removal techniques.
Honey and Lemon Juice Mask
The honey in this mixture works to remove fine hairs, while the lemon juice exfoliates, softens hair and prevents irritation and breakouts. Lemon juice will also lighten your hair.
Take a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and mix it with four tablespoons of honey. Put it on the area you wish to remove hair from and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse it off with a cloth soaked with warm water.
This method works best when you do it twice a week for a few months to permanently remove hair.
Tumeric and Indian Nettle Paste
Indian nettle can be used to penetrate your hairs and permanently stops them from growing. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties in turmeric will make sure you don’t get all red and irritated.
Mix a handful of crushed Indian nettle leaves with a teaspoon of turmeric powder until it turns into a paste. Rub it on your hairy face and leave it there for a few hours. You can also leave it on overnight.
When you’re done, scrub it off gently with some water. Do this every day for four to six weeks for best results.
Rose Water and Green Gram Flour
This is another exfoliating and soothing combo that will remove unwanted hair. Combine 1 1/2 tablespoon of rose water, 2 tablespoons of green gram flour and some lemon if you desire. Put the paste on your face for 20 to 25 minutes before you scrub it off. Repeat three to four times a week.
Sugar Wax
You can make your own DIY sugar wax with two teaspoons of sugar, and one teaspoon each of honey and water. Place it on the stove or in the microwave for about 30 seconds until it starts to bubble and get dark.
Let it cool and smooth it on your skin, place a cloth strip on it and pull it off in the opposite direction of the way the hair grows.
Orange Lemon Peel Mask
This method will bleach your hair and make it disappear in just a few days. Dry some lemon and orange peels and grind them up. Take one teaspoon of peel powder from each fruit and mix it with one teaspoon each of rosemary, oatmeal, and almond meal with one to two teaspoons of olive oil.
Leave on your face for five to seven minutes, then rub it in a circular motion for five to ten minutes. Repeat this two to three times a week until the hair disappears.
Spearmint Tea
This remedy works because spearmint tea can regulate the hormone levels of androgen, which is associated with excessive hair growth.
Drinking it twice daily is said to help with excessive hair growth or hirsutism.
Lentil Face Pack
This scrub uses 2 tablespoons of finely powdered red lentils with enough milk or honey to create a paste. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes before applying to your face for 15 to 20 minutes once a week.
Egg White, Sugar and Corn Flour Peel Off Mask
Whisk together one egg, one tablespoon of sugar and 1/2 tablespoon of corn flour and apply to your face and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Peel the mask off and repeat the process three to four times a week.
Lavender and Tea Tree Oil
Mix one teaspoon of lavender oil and four to six drops of tea tree oil together. Use a cotton swab to rub it on your face. Leave it on for a few hours. Repeat this one or twice a day for three months.
Papaya and Turmeric
Papaya works well as a facial hair bleach. Combine one-half teaspoon of turmeric powder or one tablespoon of milk with raw papaya pulp and massage your face with it. Leave the juices on your face or 15 to 20 minutes and rinse off. You can use this process once a week.
Saw Palmetto Extract
Take 160 mg twice a day to treat excessive hair growth. It is not recommended for pregnant women, children, or those on blood thinning drugs. It’s best to consult our doctor before taking supplements.
Apricot Honey Face Scrub
Apricot has properties that help remove facial hair. Grind up about a 1/2 cup of dry apricots along with about one teaspoon of honey and some lukewarm water. Apply the scrub to your face for five to 10 minutes, then rub it into your skin in a circular motion for another 20 minutes. Repeat this process 2 to 4 times a week.
