You'd never guess a whole home was hidden inside.

A man named Jason had a great idea one day. He decided that he was ready to strike out into his own place. But he needed something that was affordable.

And that’s when he came up with his brilliant idea.

Jason used to live in a Colorado house with 5 roommates. Until he thought of doing something different as his career shift required him to be moving constantly.

Why pay rent when you can be mobile?

He found the 2004 Ford E-350 box truck, saw it was perfect for what he intended, and bought it.

Jason and his friend had to build the van from scratch. It looks like a work truck from the outside but is very much a man’s apartment on the inside. It’s not a truck you’d notice on the road.

He can go from urban to rural anytime he wants.

The 6.8L V10 engine isn’t great on gas, but that still beats a small, expensive apartment.

It is a truck built for a very specific lifestyle. Jason’s Ford can take on the urban jungle, the open highways, and then up mountains.

There is a 12-gallon fuel tank mounted under the rear portion of the truck which he uses for the heater. A window allows Jason to get fresh air without sacrificing his privacy. And that’s why it’s designed like a vent.

The truck has 500 watts of solar power and 420 amp hours of lithium batteries.

The cargo door was modified to open up as a patio. He’s had musicians up there.

It also allows Jason to sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee when he parks on a ridge.

The truck holds water that lasts Jason up to about 2 weeks.

The loft area holds a full-size mattress. Vents and storage spaces are built-in without sacrificing mobility. And instead of a ladder, Jason has an indoor rock climb set up. Ingenious!

A pull-out closet holds all of his clothes and shoes.

Jason’s gadgets, cables, and electronics are neatly tucked away in another box allowing him to move around in safety.

Look at that kitchen!

It’s no different from kitchens you’d find in apartments but a few tweaks allow Jason to drive without his jars and utensils rattling around the back.

There’s a microwave and induction cooktop hidden in a drawer for heating up leftovers.

And what’s a mobile apartment without a comfy couch?

A big work desk takes up the rear space. Jason’s laptop sits on a retrofitted bathroom door.

There’s no point in spending if you can build from recycled materials. Plus, he’s a busy guy.

There is a portable air conditioner that he runs for short periods of time. Just enough to cool the space.

Jason’s shower comes with a composting toilet. Hygiene on the go is very important.

Jason’s got a lot going on so he needs to be saving up. In the world of custom-built cars, this stealth studio deserves an award!

It’s so incredible to see what Jason did to this truck. He did a great job making it his own.
