We tend to throw away old goods, especially if they appear to be worn out already. It’s because, more often than not, they no longer function.
But this is not the case for some people.
There are also ones who opt to restore even objects that have been in use for a long time.
Such restorations show that just because something is old doesn’t mean it is useless.
Find out how Natra Restoration, a YouTuber, revamped this extremely rusted sewing machine.
It’s a 1913 Singer sewing machine. It looked like it was beyond repair, but apparently, there was still hope for this thing.
The man started it by disassembling some parts of the machine.
Aside from a screw extractor, he also used a torch to get the tarnished bolts out. It can be seen that the guy was very careful in disassembling.
After disassembling some parts of the machine, he grabbed his sandblasting gun.
He used it to remove the rust from the machine parts, such as the balance wheel. Watching this part is oddly satisfying.
The man ensured that all parts, including the machine’s body, are thoroughly polished to make them appear brand-new.
Working on the design
When everything was nice, clean, and polished, he reinstalled the screws, bolts, and washers of the machine.
And to be able to complete the restoration, the man painted it and added distinctive designs using a laser engraving tool.
Of course, he also put the brand of the machine, which is Singer.
The man made sure to provide a montage, highlighting the sewing machine’s appearance before and after.
To say the difference is significant would be an understatement. He undoubtedly succeeded in bringing it back to how it looked before.
It looks brand new again.
This restored appliance will likely appear to be brand-new to someone who hasn’t seen the restoration video.
The question is, is it still working?
Yes, it is. It can still create superb stitches. The man gave a demonstration showing how the needle pushed neatly through the clothing.
What an arduous process.
It is tedious to restore a sewing machine from start to finish, and there’s no part that should be overlooked.
The man, indeed, did a great job! No wonder why the video of his restoration didn’t go unnoticed and went massively viral online.
It has received over 3 million views on YouTube. Not only that, but many people also expressed their appreciation for how he did it.
“That is what you call a restoration. I have a total soft spot for old singers. They were so well made and sewed beautifully,” one commenter wrote.
“Really impressed that you took that thing completely apart and actually got it sewing. My dad would be impressed and proud of you. He repaired sewing machines for a living his whole life,” another one penned.
Natra Restoration definitely deserves all the nice words he has received from his viewers.
