As much as we want to stop using plastic bottles, sometimes there’s something we need that’s packaged in plastic bottles.

And there are no other alternatives.

What to do with the bottle?

The good news is there are several ways to reuse plastic bottles that don’t involve food and don’t require being thrown out.

They can be used as water sprinklers, garden scoops, storage jars for seeds, fruit picking apparatus, and garden planters or flower pots.

Would you like to learn how to use plastic bottles to make a flower pot vase?

The materials are simple:

  • 3 plastic bottles
  • cotton rope
  • glue gun
  • seven lengths of wire
  • a piece of cardboard
  • scissors or a box cutter

Wide bottles are key

For this flower pot vase, it’s best to use a wide bottle. Or in this case, use three wide bottles.

Cut the bottle in half and use the top half. Cut out the opening and use cardboard (cut to the size of the hole) to cover the hole.

You can use your favorite color or colors for the cotton rope. You can choose to have just one color for the entire piece or use different colors for the three bottles.

Use a glue gun to stick the rope to the bottom and cover the entire bottle.

Do this for all the bottles.

Next, get the wires and stick two together to make three wires. If they’re not the same length, use a wire cutter to make sure they’re the same length.

Have one pair of wires longer than the other two. You’ll find out later why.

Wrap the cotton rope around the wire and use a glue gun at both ends to secure the rope to the wire. Make sure that the wrapping is tight and doesn’t loosen.

Now you have one wire left.

Shape it into a circle and wrap the cotton rope around it and secure it with glue again.

Secure the three pairs of wire around two inches from both ends with a glue gun and rope. Fan out one end so they can become the legs.

Glue the wrapped circle on the legs so it can hold the flower pots. Glue the flower pots on three different parts of the stand.

And you’re done.

Since this is a plastic bottle and there’s no drainage, you can just add a plastic plant inside.

Or if you really want living plants, you can place the plant in a light pot and place it inside the flower pot vase.

Just be sure to remove it every now and then to water it and let it drain out before placing it back.

It’s best to use a decorative plant with this flower pot vase. Don’t use herbed plants because this has no drainage.
