One way to spice up your California vacation getaway is to book a night or two in a houseboat instead of a hotel.
This two-bedroom floating guest cottage is a spectacular alternative to traditional travel accommodations.
Lois and Bob’s houseboat is located in Sausalito, California in Yellow Ferry Harbor.
It’s about 12 minutes from the area’s greatest attractions like the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco.
When you enter the main front room of the houseboat you’ll find a dining table for four to six people.
There’s a nice sized sofa to cozy up on and a captain’s chair so you’ll be able to entertain guests.
The space is warmed by a potbelly gas stove and cooking is done on a full-sized range oven that has a stovetop.
There is a full-sized kitchen with counter space, modern appliances, and cabinetry that has everything you need to cook and enjoy a meal.
The open floor plan of the kitchen and living room give the room an airy and spacious feel.
There is a smaller bedroom at the rear of the main floor. It houses a queen sized bed with a cozy Tempurpedic mattress.
The bedroom has a large north-facing window that overlooks the marina and Mt. Tam.
A staircase will take you up to the second floor which is home to the master bedroom. It has a gorgeous double bed that lies under a curved arched ceiling.
The bedroom has sliding glass doors that lead out onto a stunning patio.
The patio has a large table and four chairs that are perfect for enjoying a meal.
The houseboat also has a full-sized bathroom. It includes a wooden shower and tub as well as a flush toilet. There is a full-sized sink and vanity.
This calming waterfront retreat costs just $242 a night to rent.
Those who have stayed at the floating guest cottage have raved about it.
“Great place to stay! Very clean, nicely decorated, and owners are very responsive,” wrote Cory.
“Has a great deck on the second floor to watch seaplanes planes and Kayakers. Plenty to see and do in the area. Loved that the place came with Kayaks to take out. Highly recommend!” wrote Cory.
“Lois’s floating house is a gem. Located in a very nice dock, close to the harbor, with great views. Lois offers use of a clipper commuter card for public transportation, take advantage of it and take the ferry to SF. We had a great time kayaking in the harbor and enjoyed the watching the seals and birds,” wrote De Anna.
