Using two shipping containers, Canadian company Les Collections Dubreuil Inc., created an incredibly unique home called La Maison Conteneur I (The Container Home 1). In fact, it’s so unique that the company has earned quite the reputation for creating such a gorgeous and well-thought-out design.
Stacked on top of one another in a perpendicular fashion, this beautiful shipping container home, located in Quebec, is 1,920-square-feet and boasts 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
The exterior of the stunning home features natural wood with black industrial beams, creating a gorgeous contrast. Floor-to-ceiling and oversized windows can be found throughout the home, and there is even a rooftop deck.
The living room is simple, elegant, and bright.
Although the space has an industrial feel, it’s still welcoming and cozy. The living room features a large sectional sofa and metal coffee table. The entire home boasts 9-foot-ceilings, reclaimed wood, and exposed metal walls from the shipping container. Painting the metal white make the room feel open and light.
The expansive kitchen is fit for a gourmet chef.
Can you believe this kitchen is sitting inside a shipping container that once held cargo? The kitchen has a stainless steel commercial-size oven and range, fridge, sink, and center island. Black cabinetry matches the beams on the exterior of the home and a large wooden barn door hides a pantry.
The open floor plan flows from the kitchen to the dining area.
A large dining table seats up to ten guests, great for dinner parties with friends and family. The gorgeous wood table sits under the warm glow of the modern pendant light fixtures and the built-in bench seating is a unique space-saving feature.
The half bathroom features a toilet and industrial metal sink.
A bright red metal shelf adds a bright pop of color to the small room. Reclaimed wood walls add a rustic element to the bathroom.
There is a spiral staircase that leads from the main floor, down to the basement, and up to the second floor.
The spiral staircase is a beautiful touch and it looks perfect when complemented with the faux exposed brick wall and the wood wall that was handcrafted by a local artist. As you head upstairs, you can see the details of the 18-foot piece of art.
The master bedroom is by far one of the most impressive rooms in the shipping container home.
The open floor plan bedroom is absolutely magnificent. There is a queen-size bed with colorful bedding, a tiled ‘wet room’ area with toilet and shower, as well as a soaking tub in the middle of the room.
A garage door opens up to the wooden rooftop deck.
Imagine taking a relaxing soak in the tub on a sunny day with the garage door open, or perhaps a warm summer night where you can just relish in the peace and quiet. The expansive deck even has an outdoor shower. Such an amazing feature!
Teal tile can be found in the shower of the second full-size bathroom.
This shower has an adjustable height shower head and a built-in shelf for shampoo and body wash bottles. There is also a turquoise vintage vanity with white ceramic sink and colorful artwork that adds brightness to the room.
A second bedroom serves as a reading nook and play area.
Just like in the master bedroom, this room has bright colored pillows and tapestries that add tons of character. The highlight, however, would have to be the vintage hanging light fixtures.
Head down to the basement to find the media room and office.
Chill out and relax while watching your favorite movie in the shipping container home’s TV room. There is an over-stuffed futon that provides a comfy place for guests to sleep on.
The office features the unfinished walls of the shipping container, giving this room a much different feel than the other rooms in the house. A long built-in desk provides lots of space for a computer, office supplies, and file storage.
