We all know that laundry detergent is what gets our clothes fresh and clean, but did you know that there are other uses for it too?

Your laundry detergent can also work wonders in other areas of your home, not just the laundry room.

Here’s how:

Clean Up Oil Spills

Pour some powdered laundry detergent over your oil spill and then cover it with water. Let it sit overnight before spraying everything clean with water.

Clean Doors, Molding, Cabinets, and Baseboards

Mix two tablespoons of borax and liquid laundry detergent with a pitcher of warm water. Soak a sponge in the mixture and use it to wipe down your surface.

Get Rid of Soap Scum

Mix powdered laundry detergent with enough water to create a paste. Firmly your paste over the soap scum in a circular motion and let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing away with hot water.

Carpet Stain

Sprinkle some powdered detergent and baking soda on your carpet stain and let it sit for a few minutes before vacuuming it away. If you have a tougher stain you can mix 2 tablespoons of liquid detergent with some water in a spray bottle. Spray the stain, let it soak in for a few minutes and blot the stain and rinse away.

Scrub Your Deck

Take a gallon of warm water, one cup of powdered detergent and 3/4 cup of oxygen bleach and scrub your deck with the solution. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes before you repeat the process and rinse it off.
