Woman spends $15k building dream “gypsy wagon” tiny home
Stephanie did everything herself aside from the roof and it shows. It's beautifully done and every square inch is just as functional as it is remarkable. 🤩

Can you remember what you spent the bulk of your time doing during all the lockdowns over the last few years?

Many of us picked up a few cool new skills here and there, like maybe some new cooking techniques, woodworking, or epoxy resin art.

But did you build a whole house?

If your answer is no, no worries. It just means that you’re a lot like the rest of us out here living our daily lives.

However, what that also means is that we aren’t like Stephanie, who managed to take advantage of the extra time to build her entire dream home from scratch.

It’s actually a “Gypsy Wagon”.

Stephanie’s wagon was featured on the YouTube show ‘Tiny House Giant Journey’ where she took viewers on a tour of her adorable home that she built all by herself.

“Hi my name is Stephanie this is Misty, my tiny wagon.”

Misty? How cute is that? It’s the perfect name for the tiny abode, and soon you’ll see why.

Stephanie told the show that she built the wagon to start traveling again. She didn’t want just any old trailer.

“I’m older now and I wanted a little bit more comfort.”

She built it during covid lockdown when her business hours didn’t demand as much of her attention.

“I built everything myself. The only thing I didn’t do was the installation of the roof and the propane line,” she proudly explains to the host.

Stephanie built ‘Misty’ without construction experience.

She considers herself a handy person and with a little internet digging, she was able to figure out what to do. The entire project set her back $15,000.

“People want to talk to me about how I did that and I have met so many people. I love showing it off…this is my masterpiece.”

“Welcome to the inside of Misty, my tiny wagon.”

The entire wagon is 84 sq. ft.

That’s strictly speaking of living space, but Stephanie says it seems bigger because it is built on an angle.

She used birch plywood because it was lightweight and aromatic cedar to construct the wagon.

“It smells so good when you walk in,” she says as she takes a giant breath.

The tiny kitchen oozes whimsy and charm.

The windows on either side allow the air to flow through the wagon on a nice day.

She has her appliances running on propane and her kitchen is complete with a sink with running water and a stove.

Storage was very important to Stephanie when she was designing her wagon.

“The whole wagon has lots and lots of storage, I splurged and got a little spice rack that I love.”

There is also just as much storage outside her wagon as inside.

There are numerous shelves and hidden compartments where she can store things like toiletries and non-perishable goods.

The space seems light and airy.

Every detail is meticulously planned out.

She has a copper sink from Egypt and mirrors from Morocco. They all help to create her own unique vibe.

Her clothing is kept in a space below her loft.

She can pull her clothing rack out and doesn’t seem to mind the small space.

The loft is serene and imaginative.

She made the space special with an arched ceiling, stencil curtains, and a memory foam mattress.

Most importantly, she made sure her dog could climb up on his own.

“My plan was to build a space where I feel safe and that cheers me up, that makes me smile when I enter, and it does and I’m really happy about that. so if you are interested in building one… if I can do it you can do it,” Stephanie beamed.
