The smile on Amy’s face was telling. She knew that she just went from frumpy to fantastic.
And she was liking what she saw in the mirror. This was all thanks to The Makeover Guy himself, Christopher Hopkins.
Hopkins is a multitalented entrepreneur, performer, internet star, author, and “appearance aficionado.” But he’s most known for his ability to completely transform someone with an incredible makeover.
You might have seen his early makeovers on shows like Oprah in the 90s.
His reputation is what lead Amy to seek out his expertise.
“I don’t like fixing hair,” Amy told Hopkins in the video of her makeover. “I’m not good at it.”
So, her only request for her makeover was “it’s got to be easy.”
Amy came in with her grey hair hanging down just barely below her shoulders.
“This is not how I normally wear my hair,” she explained.
“I didn’t bring my beautiful clip with me. I normally just..,” she said showing Hopkins how she usually wears it up in a clip.
“Yeah, it’s pretty but it’s not playful and rock and roll,” he tells her.
She’s been wearing that same hairstyle over the last 16 years while raising four daughters who are now 21, 19, 16, and 12.
“It’s been easy real easy,” she explained. “I always thought it’s a style.”
Hopkins pulled her hair on top of her head in a side pony and asked her what she thought.
They decided it was 80s but not as 80s as the Princess Diana haircut Amy used to sport back in the day.
“I was always told I look like Princess Diana,” Amy explained.
And she kind of does without her glasses.
They decided on a soft beige blonde color for Amy.
And with that, Hopkins chopped off a giant chunk of Amy’s hair.
Now it was time for a full transformation.
“I’m looking very frumpy,” Amy said before her makeover. “Needing a change, [to] feel more confident and better about myself.”
Amy did have a little anxiety in regards to what she would look like after her makeover.
“My fear is that I might look older and I don’t want a stiff haircut,” she explained.
But all that melted away as soon as she looked in the mirror and saw her new look.
“I love that the grey is gone,” she said.
She was excited to show her family.
“They’re going to love the color and they’re going to love the new cut,” Amy said.
Her makeup was soft and beautiful
This video actually gave us a behind the scenes look where Hopkins’ clients get some style lessons to spice up their wardrobe.
“Now it’s just a matter of finding stuff I should be wearing,” Amy said.
More than one million people have viewed Amy’s makeover video. Commenters on YouTube said that she looked 20 years younger and that it was more like a “life-over” than a “makeover.” You can watch Amy’s transformation below.
