The bathroom is a place in the house that’s often overlooked.

It’s small and you don’t spend much time in there, so many people don’t think about decorating it in any different way.

One of the most common issues with bathroom designs is that the wall to the back of the vanity gets splashed with water from washing your hands or face.

A cheap remedy can help with this dilemma.

A DIY guide shows us just how to deal with this problem. It’s an easily affordable, step-by-step procedure to creating your very own backsplash. A quick trip to the Dollar Store is all you need to keep your throne room that much cleaner!

You’ll want to purchase at least three packs of Dollar store gemstones.

Using different colors will help to give the backsplash more vibrancy and will create an overall better aesthetic.

Make sure to wash them with water and dish detergent and then leave them out to dry.

Now that you’re ready to start working on the backsplash, there a couple of things that need to be done before getting your hands dirty.

First, remove the mirror if possible.

Then, use a ruler or measure stick to create lines that represent the left-most and right-most boundaries of the backsplash.

Then, apply a thin coat of Mastic using a small notched trowel.

Make sure you get the entire area covered before proceeding.

Now’s where the fun truly begins.

Grab the gemstones and begin arranging them to your liking.

You can set them up in different styles using different colors for different patterns. The choice is totally yours as this is what adds your personal creativity and style to the project.

Once done, mix the grout with a half cup of water.

This mix will be used over the gems in a soft, yet firm manner.

Make sure to first insert painter’s tape so that you don’t accidentally hit the sink. Apply it so that it covers up the entire area between the gems and the backsplash in its entirety.

Finally, remove the painter’s tape and begin applying small doses of grout for the area the tape covered. Be very careful and gentle as you don’t want to overdo it on this part.

Once it dries, you’re all done.

The incredible transformation will leave everyone speechless. It’s definitely the touch-up your bathroom needed after probably being neglected for some time.

You’ll be even more thankful once you see how nice and clean the wall will stay.
