Have you ever heard of the term “homesteading”?
It is a movement that has grown in popularity over the last decade as inflation has made it harder and harder for people to live.
Homesteading is living a self-sufficient lifestyle, usually off the grid.
One woman, known simply as Mama V, decided to make a change in her life and begin a homesteading journey.
She left her city life and moved into an old mini school bus as she built herself a new cabin to live in in the middle of the woods.
But with multiple cats and 2 dogs, Mama V was finding it hard to fit everyone into her bus.
She knew she needed to make a change and was trying to figure out what to do when one of her neighbors offered her an old camping trailer.
The trailer had been sitting, untouched, in the neighbor’s yard for years and he was ready to get rid of it; instead of selling or scrapping it, he decided to offer it to Mama V.
She was ecstatic about the opportunity and quickly jumped at the offer.
She sold her bus and was excited to move into the trailer.
However, it had been sitting for so long that it needed a lot of TLC to get it back into a livable condition.
While the trailer was structurally sound with no leaks, it needed a serious deep clean.
Mama V knew just who to enlist to help her bring her new home back into tip-top shape.
She called on 2 of her friends, Jayme and Kevin, to help her firstly drive her new camper into its plot, and secondly to help her clean it up.
Kevin hitched the trailer to the back of his truck and, with minimal guidance, he backed the unit into place and balanced it all out.
As soon as the trailer was settled, Jayme jumped right into the cleaning and told everyone to stay out of her way as she worked her magic.
So, Mama V and Kevin went into town to purchase some food and supplies so she could begin to settle in.
Luckily for Mama V, the trailer had a fridge and oven/stove combo that were in excellent condition, it even came with a microwave.
Jayme deep-cleaned the entire interior of the trailer and believes she vacuumed up at least 1,000 dead wasps as she made her way through.
Soon, she and Kevin said goodbye to Mama V and left to her settle into her new temporary home.
Finally, Mama V was able to have a proper look around and discover all the little ins and outs of the place.
It came equipped with 2 full propane tanks and a panel that gauged the usage of every aspect of the unit, from propane to water, it even had a little thermometer.
She walked through her new place and showed off the pullout couch, full kitchen, 2 twin beds, bathroom with full tub and shower, as well as the copious amount of storage space.
Though it won’t be her forever home, Mama V and her pets are happy to have somewhere big and comfortable where they can lay their heads.
