Buying a home is a huge investment. In fact, it’s one of the most important decisions that you’ll make in your life. Not to mention one of the most expensive decisions that you’ll ever make as well.

One couple decided to go an unconventional route when it came to purchasing their dream home and it all started with a dirty yellow truck for sale at a price of $4,500.

British couple Iona Stewart and Martin Hill include traveling as one of their favorite hobbies, so they wanted to design a home that would be mobile. Someplace that would allow them to pick up and go whenever they please. Plus, they love being outdoors, so a mobile home was a must.

“After a couple of beers” Martin came up with an idea about buying a “big American truck” and transforming it into their personal and unique dream home on wheels. The couple got on eBay and, instead, found an old bread delivery truck listed for approximately $4, 670.

Of course, transforming a truck into a home was going to take a lot of hard work, creativity, and a bit of money – around $25,000 to be exact.

Martin took care of most of the labor work with the renovation while Iona was in charge of the interior design. After working on the truck full-time for four months, they finally had the home they had dreamed about.

The couple decided to start their nomadic life in France and is now enjoying their passing views as they explore the mountains.

Want to take a quick tour? Let’s step inside.

From the outside, the exterior had a major facelift, but there’s nothing that stands out as “special.” It has a sleek gray paint job and a door and two windows that would look like any normal RV.

The interior, however, is what makes Martin and Iona’s home so incredibly special.

Walking into the mobile home, you first enter the couple’s surprisingly spacious kitchen. Featuring a full-size oven and stove, dorm-size fridge, and plenty of storage space. It has everything the couple needs. The farmhouse sink and butcher block countertops are a beautiful touch.

Of course, when dealing with a small amount of square footage, it’s important to get clever and creative when it comes to storage. Iona did an amazing job of incorporating storage in smart and adorable ways.

Taking a step down from the kitchen, you’ll enter Martin and Iona’s lounge space or “living room.”

To stay warm, they installed a wood stove that will easily heat the entire space. There is a sectional futon-style sofa that doubles as a sleeping space.

The couple added additional storage above the sofa, taking advantage of the vertical space since the square footage is so limited. They also opted for a thing coffee table that is perfectly functional for a laptop or eating dinner.

Of course, when you live full-time in a truck, you’re going to need a bathroom. Iona and Martin made sure to designate a small area of the truck for the bathroom.

The tiny bathroom has just enough room for a corner sink, vanity, and toilet. The entire room serves as the shower. They just need to make sure they keep their towels out of the showerhead’s reach!

A composting toilet allows them to not have to worry about sewage. The entire bathroom area is separated from the living space by a sliding pocket door.

Around the home, you’ll find beautiful and artistic final touches.
